error messages with windows defender, hosts file & microsoft essential

when i try to use ESET OnlineScan i get this error. i tried with ff and ie and with my firewall off. should i try it in safe mode?

Please download (free version) Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware to your desktop
Malwarebytes | Free Anti-Malware Detection & Removal Software
* Double-click mbam-setup.exe and follow the prompts to install the program.Right click to run as Administrator, using Windows 7 or Vista.
* At the end, be sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
* If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
* Once the program has loaded, select Perform full scan, then click Scan.
* When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
* Be sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
* When completed, a log will open in Notepad. Please save it to a convenient location. Copy and Paste that log into your next reply.

i ran Malwarebytes. there were no delete choices just quarantine. i quarantined all the threats.

Uninstall xrecode II

Download CKScanner by askey127 from HERE
Important - Save it to your desktop.
Doubleclick CKScanner.exe and click Search For Files.
After a very short time, when the cursor hourglass disappears, click Save List To File.
A message box will verify the file saved.
Double-click the CKFiles.txt icon on your desktop and copy/paste the contents in your next reply.

Microsoft's Host file should have been 'fixed' with the .bat file you ran. As long as it's running okay, I guess you're fine...


BTW, The Hosts file does NOT belong on the desk! Network Administration: The Hosts File - For Dummies


The "key-gens" you have almost certainly point to the fact that your copy of Windows may not be legit.

Microsoft's Host file should have been 'fixed' with the .bat file you ran. As long as it's running okay, I guess you're fine...
Y isn't the host file blocking websites when i add sites i want blocked?
