Well guys, just today, i tried reinstalling windows 7 professional 64-bit. Well, this isn't the first time i install win 7 pro 64 bit. I installed a few times.

PROBLEM 1: In the past, when i tried installing, setup randomly freezes. I'm suspecting that either the harddisk is faulty or the cd drive, or even the installation disc ( i burnt it myself). Just installing halfway, i can see the cd-rom drive stops reading (i.e. light does not blink anymore).

PROBLEM 2: But however, there was ONCE, i successfully installed it. But just today, my computer decides to show me "disk boot failure'. So i decided to reinstall it... And now, it decided that it does not want to show my hard disk for installation. And for the SSD, even after formatting, it still do not allow me to install on it. It shows something like a previous windows is detected etcetc.

Steps I did: For PROBLEM 1, i changed a cd-rom drive, however the same problem occurs, thus i burnt another cd. Problem still exist... I do not know how i successfully installed windows once.
For PROBLEM 2, i used a SATA to USB converter and tried using my laptop to format it. No problem, hard disk formatted. However when i put it back into my desktop to try installing windows, the hard disk does not want to show up again. Tried the same thing on my SSD(took out, used another PC to format), still shows me that a previous windos is detected etc.

CONCLUSION: I AM DYING FROM ALL THIS TRYING OUTTTT. Can someone please help me?? Or roughly let me know what is the problem about. Hardware or software? Thank you to those who take your time reading this, really appreciate it! :)

Disk connect all other drive except the one you want to install on. Use the Clean command from Diskpart, command prompt.

HDD has more then likely failed. See if it shows up in the BIOS. If not it is dead.

well at least on a happy note, its still under warranty. So if it shows up in bios, does that means it is partially faulty??

problem 1: Did it start installing? Freezes after or before first reboot? In which step it freezes exactly?
problem 2: Try installing SATA disk in other machine and test. Maybe a bad cable? Is it spinning so has power? Try to use another sata slot on mainboard

It freezes on the "copying files" part. And according to what i found out, it should not take that long to pass that part! mine was like a few hours before it started moving. And finally reached a stage where it just freezes(left it the whole night for it to run)

yeap, i tried different cables, different ports. But it does not help. :( Yup there's power. I do not have another desktop to try though. but using a sata to usb cable, i can use the hard drive like a normal external hard disk. But randomly, it will become a RAW file.

Even if it shows in the BIOS the drive may be faulty.

Are you installing on the SSD? If the part where it copies files is taking that long then there is definitely a problem someplace. I have had systems freeze when there was a bad drive in the system. Removing and or disconnectiing that drive stopped the freeze ups. The OS is constantly trying to access it and since it is bad it hangs the whole system. This may be why the install froze.

Hi guys, i successfullly installed windows 7 on the SSD already! Thanks for the clean all command!!!! Really appreciate it. Now for the Extra 1 tb hard disk would be another problem. Thanks Edwar, thanks alot really! :D. Now i'm trying to put the 1tb hard disk in, if thats done too, i would be done. Probably that was causing all the trouble all along!!!

It takes some time to move the files...quite normal. I've seen that many times... don't know why.

Next time do clean instead of clean all! Must faster. It only cleans the first 1MB of disk. And in this area is partition table, master boot code.

clean all is for overriding all data with zeros

I just did the diskpart clean command on my ssd and proceeded installing on the ssd. After installing then i installed the 1tb hard disk. Tada! done! thanks everyone who've helped!! :D

Can you connect the disk which is not recognized to another sata slot the works correctly? Disk is fine as it works using usb. You used an sata-usb connector, didn't you? If you used it... sata connector on disk side is working fine.

Faulty cable.... don't think so... you used another one already.

Must be sata-connector on mainboard.
