Event Id 1001 and Event Id 41 Freezing

The past 3 days I have been having random freezes for no specific reason. I have run memtest86 an it found no errors. I have run the windows disk checking program as well with no errors. The only thing I recently installed into my computer hardware wise is a new graphics card the gtx 560ti. I have a minidump file if anyone wants to take a look at it. Also this freezing happens in firefox usually and I have to do a hard shutdown.

We do need the actual DMP file as it contains the only record of the sequence of events leading up to the crash, what drivers were loaded, and what was responsible.

You may be able to get the DMP files without crashing by booting into safe mode (F8) with networking.

To enable us to assist you with your computer's BSOD symptoms, upload the contents of your "\Windows\Minidump" folder.

The procedure:

* Copy the contents of \Windows\Minidump to another (temporary) location somewhere on your machine.
* Zip up the copy.
* Attach the ZIP archive to your post using the "paperclip" (file attachments) button.
*If the files are too large please upload them to a file sharing service like "Rapidshare" and put a link to them in your reply.


To ensure minidumps are enabled:

* Go to Start, in the Search Box type: sysdm.cpl, press Enter.
* Under the Advanced tab, click on the Startup and Recovery Settings... button.
* Ensure that Automatically restart is unchecked.
* Under the Write Debugging Information header select Small memory dump (256 kB) in the dropdown box (the 256kb varies).
* Ensure that the Small Dump Directory is listed as %systemroot%\Minidump.
* OK your way out.
* Reboot if changes have been made.

I have followed the BSOD posting instructions and ran the program to generate the dump files, i have it attached in the original post. Oh also I also just noticed I have been getting this in the event viewer Event 20 WHEA-Logger A fatal hardware error has occurred.

What you're looking for will be in one of the following categories:

a) BIOS bug
b) a driver whose activity is causing the target processor to lock up
c) a hardware defect (temperature, voltage, dust, RFI, outright borkedness...)

So, check the drivers
Then check the inside of the case (temperature, voltage, dust, etc).
Then run some hardware stress tests

Prime95 Setup:
- extract the contents of the zip file to a location of your choice
- double click on the executable file
- select "Just stress testing"
- select the "Blend" test. If you've already run MemTest overnight you may want to run the "Small FFTs" test instead.
- "Number of torture test threads to run" should equal the number of CPU's times 2 (if you're using hyperthreading).
The easiest way to figure this out is to go to Task Manager...Performance tab - and see the number of boxes under CPU Usage History
Then run the test for 6 to 24 hours - or until you get errors (whichever comes first).
The Test selection box and the stress.txt file describes what components that the program stresses.

Then try replacing parts.
Then look up the versions of your BIOS to see what changes were done.

Ok so I ran all those tests for several hours without problems and it passed all them without any errors, I also ran western digital diagnostics to check hdd for errors and it had none. My motherboard bios are the most current one. I also decided to uninstall the nvidia nforce drivers, they were a newer version of what I used before on a previous installation of windows 7(i'll wait some time to see if i get freezes to see if it was the culprit). I managed to find the asus forums specfic to my mobo, what this post describes is exactly what has been happening ASUSTeK Computer Inc.-Forum- M4N98TD EVO - Critical Error: Kernel-Power - ID 41 (solved)

Event 41 is merely saying the computer was not shut down correctly (It crashed). If you think the built in sound chipset is causing the crash and have a sound card try it.
