Explorer always crashing

Are you by any chance running Nvidia drivers beginning "190.", perhaps 190.62?

If so, you need to uninstall them and install a driver in the 180's (186.18, for example).

Lots of people are having this problem with the 64 bit version of Windows 7, as a google search will confirm. Regressing to the older drivers fixed it for me and many others.

Considering that his GPU is an ATI card using different Nvidia drivers problems doesn't apply here. Graphics Card Ati Radeon X1950

Although using different ATI drivers might help.

I have been following the people complaining about this here, as well as on the other forums and searching google day in and day out for a solution to this problem. Here is my exact problem:

As a suggestion, don't be tempted to assume that your crashes are caused by the same factors as somebody else's, at least not until there's something beyond a process name to link them.

Explorer frequently has a whole bunch of non-default code running "inside" it: handlers for camera-specific image formats (so that photo thumbnails can be generated), right-click context menu additions, modules for integration with systray applets, anti-virus inspection DLLs... it is one of the most oft-invaded processes in the entire OS.

It's natural to be hopeful that the <insert_process_name_here> crash being investigated in somebody else's thread will lead to a resolution for a crash in the same process on your own machine, but in the majority of cases that's not going to happen - because their crash had a different root cause.

From looking at the dump you've generated (that's the way to do it!), your crash is caused by what's called "heap corruption" and it's almost certainly different to the OPs. I can tell you a little more, but I'd suggest first starting your own thread (linked to the writeup you did here if you like), so that this thread can stay focused on the OPs own issue.
