When using Window 7 search and the "search more results" is selected, the following message come up.

"Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You may not have appropriate permissions to access the item."

Does anyone know how to trace or debug this?????

Does this happen for everything you search?
or specific files or folders?

Has the error message states, it sounds like a permissions problem.

What type of account type do you have? Check or change that. Standard User should still be able to use the search option unless you are trying to do a search inside other profiles.(that would cause that error message)

If it is just a folder or file that you are having problems with just change the permissions for that folder or file.

Hope this Helps

If the error message comes up when you attempt to open a file in the search resullts, it may also be that you index had become corrupted, and is not updating properly.

1) Click the Start Orb :orb:
2) Type "index" (without quotes), then click on "Indexing Options" in the results list:

3) Click "Advanced" (you may need to also respond to a UAC prompt):

I had this issue a few days ago, and had to manually rebuild my search index for the first time ever since installing Windows 7 over a year ago...
