What is the remedy when a Win7 PC fails to acknowledge/read either, or both, an external HDD and a Blu-Ray Drive?
The cables, ports and Seagate 4TB drive are ok.
Win+R, diskmngmt.msc indicates that both the HDD and Blueray are running soundly.
Win Explorer does not acknowledge their existence.
All help gratefully received. Dennis B

Welcome to the forum. In disk management do they have a drive letter you may need to assign one before they will show up

In addition, ensure that the assigned drive letter is one that isn't already in use.

Other Info
Built my first computer (8Mhz 8088cpu, 640K RAM, 20MB HDD, 2 360K floppy drives) in 1985 and have been building them for myself, relatives and friends ever since.
Thankyou Sumaria and Strollin' Following your advice, I named the Drive and accessed it successfully after that.
As in all things else, the correct procedure is always simple.
The trick is to know what it is.
Thanks again and call in for a coffee, next time your are down under in OZ.
Blessings
