External GPU (eGPU)

i did have a read through the link you posted but annoyingly the link in it about error 12s is dead so i had a good look around at your situation and most things seem to lead to setup 1.x which is payed for software ?????
Sounds like a bootable eGPU config software that accesses your device before OS load and preps it for boot, seems to fix most error 12 situations but who knows

Regards the bsod check your C:\windows\minidump folder, zip up the contents (or the most recent few) and upload or run the tool in the link i gave you and upload the output file, that will grab your dumps and lots of other useful info, msinfo32, updates log, system info etc etc

crap srry give me 5

ok so i opted out that its the GPU and PSU. i tried a different gpu and PSU, and same exact results. however im getting error 12 until i restart at least. so this narrows it down to a problem with the adapter, or something on software end.

I know you can plug it in without reboot but the machine does need to be in some state of sleep not sure which though

Had a scan of your dumps and cant draw any definate conclusions from them theres a bunch of random dumps that i think are just side effects and a bunch that are the same blaming ati drivers but im pretty sure they are from hot plugging/unplugging but this is virgin territory for me so afraid i cant offer you to much more

:(

i uninstalled everything and shut down. plugged it in, booted up and let windows install it and it installed it as standard VGA adapter but came up with error code 10 this time. any ideas? i dont want to install drivers before this code 10 gets situated.

windows comes up with the drivers update for the card however i end up in the same situation as before.

so to update:

ive tried this on another dell computer running vista 64bit i think and similar problem i think. wasent able to fully test. ive ruled out it being the GPU and PSU by trying different ones. the only thing left is the adpter, which o dont think is defective because its installing and its able to read usb flash drives.

this is what i did. i downgraded my bios to a previsious version, and that stopped the BSOD. then i uninstalled both my internal gpu and external gpu from DM rebooted then let windows install them. rebooted, then installed the amd drivers for the 6670, then rebooted. then i went to the amd website, and downloaded the auto detect gpu drivers. ran that and oddly it came up with my internal GPU, but still ran it, then rebooted and what do u know, my desktop is on my TV!!!!!!! and is being pused through thr 6670!!!! WHHHOOOOOOOOO YEA!!!!!!!

ill have SS and Pics up in a few its late here i and i got school tomorrow.

Yea 3 days all day on it. I have like3 more Probs, but I think there reliant on each other. So once I get those situated

First one being that WMI stopped working, an ATI app fails to start at startup, my GPU is registered at 800/800mhz when it should be 800/1600mhz, it's running at pcie 1 when I'm pretty sure it should be pcie 2, and lastly I played black ops last night. Just chose some random graphic settings, but I was getting choppy performance. I think that is because of the low memory speed or WMI (messing up my CPU) or my ram sticks have to be swapped.

Or everything with the graphics speed could be because of the PSU not having the rite wattage.

I tried to "OC" it to the stock rated speeds and it just artifact really bad and crashed.

so i think ima do a system restore to the earliest possible state i have and re install eGPU. i want to update the 6670 drivers first before i install my internal graphics and AMD software. i think the reason that the card is not using the full 1600mhz its sopose to on the memory clock is because of a driver issue. hopefully that will fix it.
