Hi,

Regarding "cyclic redundancy", having done a quick scan on it, it seems to be some error checking thing that can tell if the raw data got accidentally changed on drive. At this point you must carefully consider your data's survival chances if you attempt fixing it without prior back up. It is probably best to back up an existing raw data on the drive before trying to tackle the problem itself - so to avoid some extra other possible damage.

In case you would like to attempt to recover data saved on that drive, but Windows doesn't seem to work out for you, you could try accessing the drive via other OS, for example, Linux based one.

In past I did data recovery via ddrescue (which is based on Linux: Best method/tool for cloning a failing HDD for Data Recovery? Solved - Page 9 - Windows 7 Help Forums ), and recently I did so via LinuxMint (suggested by mrjimphelps : Windows corrupted External Drive's data structure (inaccessible drive) Solved - Windows 7 Help Forums ).

If you decide to get it done via LinuxMint: once you are booted to OS, plug it in and in browser, see if the drive got mounted.

If you go by ddrescue: you will have to do some command line input (as well as some extra reading about stuff, otherwise, you may endanger your drive to the wrong function called), like to tell the system to mount the drive and etc. All relevant info is already provided in those sources/references mentioned earlier.

If in doubt, ask more.
