External monitor not working

Hi I recently installed windows 7 and now I can't get my monitor to work it is a Samsung SyncMasterT220 I have used it on this hp laptop on vista for a long time without any problems..

I have a hp pavilion dv6000

and my video card is Gforce 8400m gs

I thought windows 7 where going to install the drivers for you?
