External Monitor Stuck in Unsupported Resolution

Hi, I got a new LCD tv today and wanted to use it as a monitor as well.
I've connected it up as my main monitor so when its connected via VGA my laptop goes blank and the screen is on the tv.

I was messing with the resolutions to try get the right one and now it says its in an unsupported resolution.
The problem is, I cant change it coz the screen wont show on the tv and its not showing on laptop because i set it not too.
When I unplug the connection I cant change the settings for the external so Im stuck at what to do.

Try unplugging the TV and rebooting. Hopefully things will revert.

Kinda fixed

Got it working, I pressed FN+F4 and it changed the resolution, only problem now is...ive realised my graphics card does not support the tv resolution which is 1440 x 900, any ideas what I could do?

you should be able to force it in your gfx card control panel

Update your card drivers. Go to the manufacturer's site and choose your card.

All my drivers are fully upgraded and there isnt the option in the card control panel =/

What graphics card do you have? Try running Speccy if you do not know.

Try this link for drivers. I do not know what version of Windows 7 you have, so I cannot go any further.

Get another laptop with better graphics or upgrade the graphics card on your current laptop. Since you don't have your system specs filled out we can't make any suggestions for you. Goodluck.
