Two gigs of ram is the absolute minimum (64 bit) for just your basic surfing. Add gaming and you will soon run out of memory.

Previously i had 3 GB RAM on 64 bit and frankly it was not enough for heavy stuff and more than browsing.

Your RAM usage is normal under these conditions.I would advise to upgrade your RAM to atleast 4 GB.DDR3 RAM's are pretty cheap these days.

Visit this site RAM Memory Upgrade: Dell, Mac, Apple, HP, Compaq. USB drives, SSD at Crucial.com and have a check of how much RAM your system can support. You can always buy 1x2 GB RAM stick or 1x4 GB RAM stick.

Windows 7/64 don't really get going until you stick at least 4 gigs of ram in it.
Filling in your specs would help us help you.

I have 4 gigs of ram in both my windows 7 pcs and I'm thinking upgrading to 8 gigs in my laptop to speed it up. My laptop runs. Core2duo processor and ddr2 800, it's a older 1530xps.

My computer would literally freeze for a minute then kick back in again.
