Extremely slow boot after failed (?) update

Hello friends,

I am experiencing trouble when booting. The issues started right after a failed windows update two days ago, I downloaded and installed some (the 12 most recent) updates and restarted. During bootup, the blue screen showing update progress appeared and finished, but after that only a black screen came up for several minutes with little HD activity. I was running the computer without a battery on AC power supply and accidentally jerked the cord out (it always happens when doing the most important stuff, doesn't it?).
Although the updater screen was already gone for some time at that moment, now the boot takes about 10 minutes, in safe mode/with services turned off also. Everything else including hibernation/sleep works flawlessly once the endless booting finishes and the computer is running. I assumed some drivers got screwed up, but strangely, restoring the system to the previous backup point did not fix this, neither does running startup repair from a recovery disc.
The computer has been running without issues until the update, although initially after I got it, I did have a lot of trouble finding right drivers and software to make everything (especially the dual graphic cards) work right. Needless to say, it was a clean install.

I'm running W7 Ultimate x64. It's an ASUS UL80V with an Intel Core 2 Duo 1300 MHz, 4GB RAM, 320GB WD Scorpio Black HD, and discrete and integrated graphics (NVIDIA GeForce G210M/Intel GMA 4500MHD). Using AVG Internet Security.
The bootlog is posted below. I greatly appreciate any help.

1)If you can get to System Restore pick a point before the power failure.
If System Restore is not accessible you can try to access from Safe Mode which is step #3.

2) Go to step 3 or 4. If able I'd try 4 first then 5.

3)Follow tutorial and you are looking for Last Know Good Configuration (advanced)
http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/666-advanced-boot-options.html

4)Try post #3 in this thread first.
windows updates

5)If problem is still unresolved follow this tutorial.
It will reset updates and should reinstall the damaged one properly.
If it does not work and you skipped step #3 then now is the time for Step #3.
Windows Update - Reset

Diagnose your hdd http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/433-disk-check.html

or better use manufacturer tool Hard Drive Diagnostics Tools and Utilities (Storage) - TACKtech Corp.

If really your hdd is fine

then try below:

1.Uninstall all 3p security software
2.Stop & disable Superfetch service ,remove all in C:\Windows\Prefetch next run cmd.exe with administrative previlliges (right click on this file as admin) and type

rundll32.exe advapi32.dll,ProcessIdleTasks

+restart

3.If you have any network drivers then disconnect them

4.If nothing help use WPAT tool to diagnose problem with bootup

official link Windows Performance Analysis Tools

I realize the official instruction is very hard to follow, thus I attached here much more friendly an quicker manual Speed up boot time in Windows Vista using Windows Performance Toolkit

Hello guys,
thanks for all the input. I tried all the suggestions, but unfortunately, none of them seems to work for me. I reset updates, checked HDD, etc, to no avail.
I managed to install the Performance Analysis Tools and acquire some statistics, but I'm not capable of figuring out what it going on. The graphs indeed show a 6-minute blank during boot. CPU activity and HD activity simply drop to zero for 400 seconds and then the computer starts loading services. Concerning "Driver delays", the graphic is very confusing, but it might be the key. During the 6 minute blank where everything else stands still, many instances of "fitmgr.sys", "ntfs.sys" and "tdrpm251.sys" appear. Other drivers are loaded during the short periods of normal CPU/HDD activity before and after the blackout. I'm attaching a screenshot for illustration. I could provide the etl file as well, but I think I'm reaching a point where simply reinstalling the OS and trying to deal with finding all the drivers again seems like less effort. Provided that it will fix this issue of course.
But just for the sake of staying informed, if someone can analyze or reproduce what I'm experiencing, it would be great you come up with more suggestions.

alot of the times if you're using old hardware even though you might think it is current the driver versions may bog down win 7

Sometimes when you upgrade to a new os there might be things you need to upgrade in you're unit as well

just a suggestion cause i had bad install issues with win7 in the beginign because of my dvd burner drive was old and not reading properly so i went switched it out and now no worries it installed no errors and been running well ever since

sometimes windows wont install properly cause of hardware incapadability

As you said fitmgr.sys,ntfs.sys, and tdrpm251.sys have very lonng loading time, filtrmgr.sys and ntfs.sys are strickly system drivers but tdrpm251.sys belongs to 3p soft -as far as I know it belongs to Acronis True Image -if you have this soft installed then uninstall it completely.

Thank you for the suggestions, but still nothing worked.
I had indeed the useless Acronis running on my system, but getting rid of it didn't fix the booting issues. Although it's a pain in the a, I'm going to try and do a repair install and hope this fixes the problem.

Make sure it rid of tdrpm251.sys too.Although this soft was correctly uninstalled, sometimes installer may leave some drivers.Check it in C:\Windows\System32\drivers folder,if you find it just delete it manually.
