Far Cry doesn't work after 1.4 patch

Far Cry works fine b4 i installed the 1.4 patch. after the patch I get black screen when I start the game and nothing responds other than the power button.

I have windows 7 x64 bit.

EDIT: in the read me file, it says that the 1.4 patch only supports 32 bit. So how am i suppose to play online without the latest patch?

Can't be 100% sure but I was recently playing Far Cry for the umpteen time and even on 64 bit ultimate so... here's a few things you may want to try.

Getting the latest drivers for your Audio and Video cards... uninstall the old one and install fresh copies.

Make sure you are using your native monitor resolution on the game... IIRC, FC brings an executable where you can do this prior to launching the game.

Other than that... I am stumped!

I tried other patches none of them works. Guess I can't patch the game then.

Are you sure you are patching the correct game? Are you using the patches for Far Cry 2 perhaps?

This is where i got the patches. Ubisoft - Far Cry

When I install the game, i choose English (UK) but when i install the patches I choose English (US). will it affect my game from working to not working?

I have HD 5770 and I had 10.9 drivers. But now I have 10.10 drivers.

Uninstall the game, download the 1.4 cumulative patch, install game, try to play it like that and see if it updates all on its own, if not, get out of the game and patch it... DO remember to install both the game and the patch with Elevated Admin Righst (right click on file and Run as Admin).

I don't particularly believe choosing different countries would have any ill effect but, just in case... choose one and not both!
