File Ownership Issues after restoral

HI all,

After restoring files from Acronis backup to a freshly installed Windows 7 Professional 64-bit system, I notice there seem to be some ownership issues. Hundreds of documents would now appear to not know they should simply open for the owner of the "my documents" and desktop folders they are now in.

What is the smoothest way to fix this? I know there's a "take ownership" right-click hack and I know some guides recommend right clicking and going to the security tab, but I'd really like it if one of you w7 gurus told me the surest/best/easiest way to fix this problem.

I'm hitting permissions hell everywhere I turn in Win 7. I'm a newbie, been on this 3 weeks.

I'm thinking I need to get my 500 GB FAT 32 external drive hooked up, then copy from Acronis onto the FAT 32 drive to erase the permissions, then copy from FAT 32 to Win 7.

If I allow files I can't touch onto the computer, that means I can't delete them. I'm told I can use Linux to do a flash drive boot so I can erase those folders that failed to copy properly, or with Access Is Denied errors that even Take Ownership won't take care of.
