Hello! I need some help. I have tons of home videos and music in my PC and most of them can't play when I double click on them.

I realized that it is due to the fact that the security credentials are incorrect. It seems that the files have held on to the old security restrictions from the last install of Windows 7.

Is there an application or script I can use to delete old security and restrictions information from all the files (in multiple drives)?

It seems a typical case of permissions being left from an old install and not recognized into the new system. The solution is to just take ownership under the new system and grant yourself permissions, normally full control.

Just right-click on them => properties => security tab => advanced options => owner. Select your user and accept, then open again advanced properties, and edit the permissions, delete everything and tick "include inheritable permissions from primary object". Accept and you should have access again.
