I feel like a huge noob for even having to ask this, as I've had relatively no trouble getting computers to communicate in the past, but right now it's different. I just got my new netbook today (came with XP Home, unfortunately, which I will change at a later date), and I can't seem to set up file sharing properly between the netbook and my desktop which runs Windows 7 Professional. I suppose it's HALF working, as 7 can see the netbook and its shared files, but the netbook can't see my desktop (or my roommate's, for that matter, also running Win7). I ran the Network Wizard in XP and changed the workgroup name to the same as the Win7 desktops, but no luck. I turned off password protected sharing in 7, also no luck. Quite frankly, I'm at a loss. Anybody have any ideas as to why an XP netbook connecting wirelessly and a 7 desktop plugged right into the router are having trouble communicating with one another?
