I have a new laptop which is running Windows 7 Home Premium edition. I want to setup file sharing with my Windows 2000 SP4. OK I did have my Windows 2000 setup with my XP laptop successfully then for some reason it just stopped working. Well I just reinstalled Client for Microsoft Network and it now will share files with my Windows Vista laptop no problem. And the Windows Vista shares files with my Windows 7. But if I try to connect to windows 7 from windows 2000 I can see it but when I try and connect it crashes saying memory at 0x0000000 couldn't read at 0x000000 or something like that. And I can't even see my windows 2000 pc from windows 7 anymore. I could at one time but it would never connect.

Is it possible to connect Windows 2000 to Windows 7? I'm sure it is. If anymore info is needed just ask. Just weird that the Vista box will share with both machines but the windows 2K will not connect to Win 7 or vice versa.

Thanks in advance
Jack

As far as I know, Jack, the only way to do get this to work correctly would be to map a network drive. That's what I would do. Create a folder on the Windows 7 and 2000 machines that you want to use for sharing. I'm sure there's a post here somewhere about it already but I'm too new to know where it might be.

Any help referencing that post?

Well strange enough I just booted up my Win 7 machine and it connected to the windows 2K machine strange. BUT I still can't get to the win 7 machine from Win 2K without a crash. I'm thinking maybe it's not possible for some reason. But as long as I can get to the Win 2K machine from the Win 7 machine that helps enough. If any ideas on this let me know. I may still look into your idea though JelyMan.
