Win 7 can't find my new drive.
I dual boot Win 7 and Ubuntu. Both boot okay on my machine but I want to add a new drive to the two existing ones. Currently Win 7 is on a 320 G Seagate and Ubuntu is on a 500 G Seagate. The new drive is a 1 T WD.
My bios recognizes all drives. Belarc Analyzer also finds the drive and even notes the serial number. But my `Computer `can`t see it and ``add new hardware`` can`t find it.

System-Asrock AOD790gx, PhenomII x4 955, 4 G`s mem, 600w Psu.

Did you try "Devices and Printers" in the Start menu and then " Add a Device".
Also have a look in Disk Management whether it is there. Maybe you have to initialize it and assign a drive letter. For Initialize right click on the left pane of the drive (where it says Disk 0, 1, etc.). To assign a drive letter, right click on the right pane. You may also have to format it (take "quick format" - with full format you are in for 10 hours)

Thanks to all

I had to figure out how to initialize the disk and format it. On my earlier attempts I tried "my computer and add a device but couldn't see the drive. Coming from XP I was not familiar with some of the terms or acronyms, but everything is okay now.
Funny how 1 T becomes only 931 G's.

Its still 1TB,just windows uses a different counting method per say.

They count 1GB as 1024mb where the manufactor uses 1000mb per 1TB;)

1TB in decimal and 931GB in binary is the same. It is just another "currency".
