Solved Firefox restarting process at startup

Hi everyone. I am now having another problem with Firefox.

So when I startup my computer, I click on the Firefox icon in my taskbar. It loads up perfectly, and displays my homepage. But as soon as I click on a bookmark on my toolbar or type something into Google it just shows the grey spinning wheel saying connecting...

I have worked out a way to solve this, I just close Firefox go into the task manager and end the process "firefox.exe" and then start Firefox up again. Then it starts loading webpages pages like it should.

I have reinstalled Firefox and have updated it to the latest version.

Does anyone have a suggestion that could help me with this?


P.S I have also had some problems with Flash Player too. Sometimes when I load a webpage it displays an error saying Shockwave flash may be busy or has stopped responding. Then it gives me the options continue or stop plugin. I am not sure what is causing this error.

Thanks for replying!

Could you possibly tell me which link would specifically relate to my problem?

But I did try resetting Firefox and something interesting happened.
When I started Firefox, I loaded a page and it said the connection was reset. (Though only https websites showed this error)

I solved this error in one of my previous threads.

So this time I did something slightly different to solve it, I restarted my computer (the connection was reset error was resolved) but much to my disappointment the original problem still exists.

I'm just wondering in the process of getting rid of my first error with Firefox (the connection was reset) I might have checked a box or something that has started my current error? (having to restart firefox.exe at startup)

On the 1st link Manigue posted, I would try the Safe Mode, see if it is an extension issue

Quite often I suggest restarting windows in Safe Mode with Networking (as in your other thread), because it will usually show if it is a conflict with Windows. Safe mode runs with limited services loaded.

Thanks for the tip!

I tried running Firefox with safe mode but it didn't seem to help .

Any other things that I could try that might help?

P.S ie and chrome are fine, its just firefox .

Back up your bookmarks.

Uninstall Norton Internet Security - restart.

Uninstall Firefox completely - make sure the profile folder is gone.

Restart - install Firefox again while Norton Internet Security is not installed.

I'm only suggesting this because I saw it work in another thread. The OP also used Norton Internet Security and they figured that something barfed during a Firefox update due to Norton Internet Security blocking some part of the Firefox update.

You can install Norton Internet Security again after you have tested Firefox. Or you might try Microsoft Security Essentials for a while.

Hi UsernameIssues.
I followed all the steps you suggested, but still no luck.

So I don't think it was Norton Internet Security that caused that problem.
But I still think its something to do with that error in my last thread.

I took a screen capture when I just finished installing Firefox again:


So as you can see no websites loaded except some http's, and Firefox wasn't really working properly .

Then I restarted my computer, opened Firefox again.
When I clicked on a website it started loading it but then stopped loading halfway through :shock:.

Finally I had to close Firefox, end the process via task manager and then start Firefox again .
Then it started working like it should.

Anything else I could try?

I tried doing that but still didn't make a difference.

I also tried launching Firefox directly from program files but this didn't work either.

I'm pretty sure its just something simple that I have to delete or something like that because Firefox is working, its just something to do with the way it starts up.

Is there any other browsers that are similar or better to Mozilla Firefox?

I do keep having problems with Firefox so it might just be better for me to move over to a new browser .

I would quite like to have a range of different browser options so I can choose more easily for which one suits me best than just having to stick with one alternate browser .

Pale Moon will be good to use on forums like this.

I use IE11 for things involving money.

I use Chrome to watch stuff on Justin TV:
Live Channels - Entertainment - English
Because of the Chrome extension named SteamBurner.

I don't like "build your own browser" (e.g. lots of add-ons/plug-ins). I use lots of different computers each day and I want the browsers to act the same on each one

I have now installed Pale Moon and Chrome, also have IE. They all work great!
I am especially pleased with Pale Moon, as it does not "hang" when it starts up.

I'm glad that the browsers are working for you.

As much as we would have liked to fix the issue with Firefox, this is one of those cases where it is just not practical to chase down the cause of Firefox's behavior on your computer.
