I have an HPV100W flash drive and it doesn't work in my Windows 7 x64 laptop. I think there are three files that need to be in the Windows\System32 folder but I can't remember what they are. Can anyone tell me what they are?

Thanks

Check Device Manager for any yellow flags under the USB section.

Thanks reghakr, I tried the flash drive again with Device Manager running, and after some flashing of Device Manager off and on, the flash drive worked!

Thanks.

Hijacking this thread because I have a similar problem.

I can't access any of my USB thumb drives anymore. In Device Manager, it has the yellow icon beside the name of the drive (under Disk Drives). Uninstalling/Reinstalling don't fix the problem either. Upon reinstalling, Windows pops up that the driver couldn't be installed. Going to the drive's properties in Device Manager, status says:
A driver (service) for this device has been disabled. An alternate driver may be providing this functionality. (Code 32)

Went into the registry to check the Start value for USB storage and it seems just fine:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Servi ces\USBSTOR
Start value = 3

I don't know if it's because I have recently disabled some services... :(
My USB mouse works by the way. My portable MP3 player also works fine and it has a mode that allows it to work as a portable hard drive. Though, when I switch to that mode, I can't access to any of its files (yellow icon in Device Manager).

Any clues?

Whoever told you this is in dangerous territory. Eben I rarely make changes to the CurrebtscinytolSet keys.
