Ok, this has been annoying me for a few days now. I have my music which is usually on D inside a folder on E called D. This folder is set to read only, which is shouldn't be. I am the owner of the folder and have removed and added myself a few times and it's gone through the permissions changer on all the files. I've then gone and set the folder to NOT be read only, it goes through the motions, changing all the files etc. I then OK all the windows, go back and check it, read only again.

No idea what is going on.

So frustrating.

If you right click the folder and remove the read only setting then go into the folder and see if your files have the item removed. If you then go back out and look at the folder again you will see its checked as read only, this is normal you can still write to the folder its just a small thing in windows that does that even XP does it from time to time. just make sure when you remove the read only settings you have the all files and folders checked.

ACk

You changing the permissions on the parent folder (E?) with sub folders checked, or on the actual filder (D?). Is the top level is set to seed its permissions below and you change the lower forlder (d i think) then when done it will have changed it then the top folder will have changed it back

Let us know

Ken

In the read only check box, does it have a tick or a square?

a tick means it is read only
a square means it isnt, it is just in a neutral state.

dont worry if it has a square. your folder is not read only
