Forgotten Admin Password Cannot Access Windows Desktop

Hi I am using Windows 7 and am a total newbie to computers. This computer I am using at the moment is at an internet cafe.

I changed my password a couple of days ago, but have now forgotten it, now when I boot up the computer it goes straight to the user screen asking for a password to access my desktop. I have tried entering it and then it asks me to reset it using an edisk but I don't have this disk, so cannot access my computer.

Can someone please provide me with simple instructions on how to access my desktop, and how to remove the password request at the start of booting up the computer? I have no idea and am lost on what to do. Can I bypass the login and then remove the password or I have read that I can restore to a certain point, any help will be appreciated

Welcome!

You can revert the password back again using System Restore from the repair or install disc.

would that remove anything? as I still want to retain the data on the computer, and is there any simple steps anywhere that I can following in relation to system restore

I just want to remove that stupid password have the rest of the computer load my desktop and use it but without the password i am lost

System restore is suppose to change only the OS. If all goes as it should your personal documents, etc will not be affected.

For your information I did have a look at the link but I am assuming I have to be within windows to do this but the problem is I can't get into my desktop and start menu to do these steps cause as soon as i start up windows it loads everything and then jumps to the log in screen for me to enter the password and simpleton me can't remember so i am just looking at the log on screen and that's it

so i have to go and change the boot process and then reset the password, using a disk? ok will go and try that out and keep you posted, it does seem like a long process just to bypass one's admin process just to have your desktop etc load up, but thats most probably why I'm such a newbie at it will post back once i figure out the madness thanks heaps

No, system restore does not remove any user date, it may remove anything installed since the restore point you use was created but the "Password Reset" tutorial will not remove anything at all.

You will like System restore. It should not affect any personal data, but will return the OS to the point prior to the problem. After you are set up, I wil tell you how to protect yourself from devestating problems in the future, with the proper backup procedures.
