FPS drop while on any game!

Ok then, I've had this problem for a while but I've noticed it more and more as times gone on. I'm no noob to computers, I've done all the checks to it, such as updates to systems and whatnot, I check the fans periodically on it and other things, defrags and everything.

My specs are:
Processor: AMD Phenom II x4 940 black edition.
G card: ATi Radeon HD 5870 <---- A seriosly amazing card!
RAM: 4gb DDR2
OS: Windows 7 Ultimate 64x

I experience slow down on nearly every game I play on, Mass Effect 1 and 2, Borderlands, Bioshock 1 and 2, Batman AA, DA Origins, etc. Now all I want to know is, is there anything being done about it and are there any programs or anything that can cure it temporarily? Thanks!

I think I recall seeing driver issues with that card and windows 7. Maybe someone here who has it can let you know what drivers work best for them.

did u update ur gfx driver recently?

you can try a site like Rage3d that lives and breaths everthing ATI related and they will have info on the latest Catalyst drivers & application profiles there

I am currently using the Cat 10.4a drivers with the April 7th application profile

I use the 10.4a Cats for the BFBC2 map load fix and I play DA Origins/Awakening with no problems or slowdowns with max settings with my HD 4890
