Hi

Just fresh installed windows 7 and i face problems.
First one is i think with certificates on IE because when i go to google.com it says
There is a problem with this website's security certificate.
Click here to close this webpage.

Continue to this website (not recommended).
Next one is i can't update windows.
i get error:
Code 80072F8F
Windows Update encountered an unknown error.

This is fresh install of windows, not a single application was installed on it. First thing i did when installation finished was go to windows update, but it wasn't that easy.

Any ideas what to do?

So everything works, except updates, i get 800700E error when running windows update. Because of this error i reinstalled windows thought maybe it will go away or some application was interfering with update. but even after reinstall i get this error.

Anyone else with this problem? i have tried earlier running Windows Update Downloader and install manually update. so i chose a small size update, tried to install but it hang up forever saying searching for updates on this computer.

Hi. Which antivirus do you have installed? I think I read something about an error like this coming up when a particular antivirus was blocking Windows updates. Although I've used all different antivirus programs and never had it. But things keep changing and antivirus programs keep changing too.

Glad you got it sorted - I've found the updates install ok up until the install of Service Pack 1 and .net framework 4, then you get an update to Windows update updater (if that makes sense) and then - wait - maybe 12 hours or more - just let it keep running. People advise leaving it running overnight - that's worked for me and they were all there in the morning. If there are loads, it can best to download and install them in smaller chunks.

Hi, no antivirus was installed when i updated, now after all updates successfully installed, I have installed malware-bytes. It was pain in the *** to update, had to restart like 20 times, and 10 times had updates failing to install but, all good now.

Now I'm thinking, if there was something wrong with my system and i didn't have any choice but to reinstall windows how can i back up all updates installed currently on my system to USB? I don't really care about applications, there's only few. Skype, chrome, steam and maybe antivirus.

I think it's recommended to make a system image once you have it installed and updated. You could make one with all the updates done. And a second one after installing all your programs. I think there's a thread on here about various options for making system images. Then if you mess up your installation you just put the image back on. You'd need a usb portable hard drive.
