Fresh win7 install, computer keeps pressing keys randomly

Hi guys, new here.

Did fresh install from factory win7 home premium oa to win7 ultimate

Sometimes the "starting windows" when booting, freezes and i have to reboot again.

When i boot up, and get to user screen, the pasword is ******************** already filling up. I have to wait for it to stop, then i delete, and type in password to login

After login, i noticed my mouse freezes sometimes

when im typing, my computer randomly presses and holds 888888888888888888888 and so on.

after maybe like 5 min, it will stop doing it and my laptop is back to normal. HOwever if i reboot, or laptop falls asleep and comes back on, this annoying thing happens again.

Something wrong with my hard drive? it didnt do it before when i had the factory installed win7 home premuim.

This is my 3rd fresh install, i did win7 ultimate, then back to home premium, and then now ultimate and still same problem.

This problem occurs right after fresh install. before i even install my drivers.

also on a side note: first time i did the fresh install, got "windows could not complete the installation" so i had to follow these steps in order to set up an account and get out of that reboot cycle :

"When prompted with error unable to complete installation:
Hit SHIFT-F10 to bring up command prompt.

type MMC
Click File -> Add/Remove Snap-in... (Or CTRL+M)
Select Computer Management (Double click and Finish on Local Computer)
Click OK
Double click Computer Management (Local) -> System Tools -> Local Users and Groups -> Users -> Double Click Administrator -> Uncheck Account is disabled -> OK
Now right click Administrator -> Set Password... -> Set a decent password to get started.

Now, restart. Should be good to go.

If this doesn't work try next step:
SHIFT-F10 to bring up command prompt.
type: CD C:\windows\system32\oobe
type msoobe
enter
Make a generic account and password. hit finish (if it requests a product key and you have one, enter it now. if OEM/No key required, just finish). Set time/date. Finish.
Restart."

Start over and this time follow the steps exactly in Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7 using the installer provided for your licensed version. No need to waste hundreds of dollars on the exact same OS in a higher version unless there are specific features you need unlocked. Compare Windows 7 Editions - Windows 7 Forums

At first screen when installer is booted, press Shift + F10 to open a Command Line, then run Diskpart Clean Command to get the cleanest possible install.

Be sure to follow the steps for handling drivers which are different than in XP since WIn7 is a driver-complete OS in the installer and via optional Windows Updates when you enable Automatically deliver drivers via Windows Update (Step 3). Only import drivers still missing after all rounds of Updates are installed with no more offered.

Once you have a perfect baseline install with a legit installer (provided) you'll know any problems are hardware and can test it using the Troubleshooting Steps for Windows 7

hi gregrocker. so far so good. did fresh install, without the annoying 88888. Didnt do the diskpart, because im not sure if my hd is ssd or not. The only thing i did different was that i deleted all the partitions, instead of just only the primary one. i thought you were suppose to keep the recovery / system partitions. Now i have to do the drivers. But wouldn't it be better, if i just download the drivers straight from hp for my specific laptop? Right now, there is no wifi so i have to use the hp website to get the wifi driver.

As it says in Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7
you should put your wireless driver in your backup so if it's not provided during install you can install it to get online.

It also says in the tutorial, plus I typed out for you specifically NOT to import any drivers until after you enable Automatically deliver drivers via Windows Update (Step 3) and then run all rounds of Important and Optional Windows Updates, with reboots. After each reboot go back to Check for Updates again until there are no more. Only then should you import any drivers still missing in Device Manager from the HP SUpport Downloads webpage for your model.

I realize old XP-era habits are hard to break, but this is a driver-complete OS.

I didnt import any drivers yet except for the wifi. Is it suppose to take this long to do the drivers/important/optional updates? im already 3hrs into the fresh install, and its still installing updates.

Did you use the latest official WIn7 installer with SP1 from tutorial? If not I would do it over wiping the HD of all code first using .Diskpart Clean Command from installer's Command Line in System Recovery Options

Test your HD with maker's HD Diagnostic extended CD scan followed by Disk Check also from the installer's command line.

Test your RAM - Test with Memtest86+ for 5-6 passes or overnight.

got all updates. how do i know which drivers are missing. i want my laptop to be running at optimal performance, its 8gb ram and i5 processor. for some reason i dont think its at optimal performance. oh btw is that you greg with the intel surfboard?

my pc hase beats by dre, when it start up i hear sound, but when i go to youtube and play music i get no sound

Did you enable Automatically deliver drivers via Windows Update (Step 3) then run all rounds of Important and Optional Windows Updates, with requested reboots, until no more are offered when you Check for Updates? Check again now to see for sure.

Once you're sure all Updates are installed, check the Device Manager for any drivers still missing to import them from the HP Suppport Downloads webpage for your model.

yes sir, all updates. i had to re-install the audio driver. now it works fine. checked device manager, says i need PCI device. dunno which one that is from the hp website. model is dm4-3013cl

i tried the right click update device software, says windows could not find.

and the category is "other devices" pci device

Most likely a card reader so look for those on your PC's model downloads page for that first.

How is overall performance? Monitor it closely between each program install. Keep a Clean Boot as discussed in Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7

i added sum drivers over the period of 2-3 days. and i notice i got that dreadful 888888888888888 again. and the mouse freezes, i have to press esc to unfreeze the mouse. also noticed at startup the "starting windows" froze, without any animation, i had to force shut down and reboot, and notice the mouse / 888 problem.

System Restore to before the problem began again, then install these drivers or programs one at a time with time in between each to see if the problem resurfaces. I just explained this to you before as the way to pinpoint which program or driver is causing the issue.

You should also not be installing any drivers other than those missing in Device Manager after all Windows Updates are completed. This is not XP. Win7 is a driver-complete OS.
