Ok, might be on something here. I burned the OS to a dvd and started it....
I got an error message like the image I have attached. Says "a required CD/DVD drive device driver is missing.
That means the driver for my cd/dvd rom is not working as it should, right? Maybe thats the reason my copy of the OS got corrupted.

I might need some help updating this driver. When I go into the device, I dont have a choice to update the driver. Its greyed out. I found out the driver is located here though: C:/Windows/system32/DRIVERS/cdrom.sys

Now when I found this out, I remember the cd rom was sooo slow to start the install on both this new disk and the old one...

How can I update this?

Worth a try eh? :)

Ok, it says there he downloaded the ISO file and burned to a cd/dvd (just like I did) It was when I put the dvd in the player and rebooted from that I got that message. It was into the installation for OS..

So guess I get the same message again when I try with the dvd...

Or did I miss the point here? hehe :)

Yeah, the fact that the installation started means you did it correctly. It is just odd that you are getting that error with an ISO that seemed to be fine after verify.

hehe, yeah. Got the same error now as well. One question, my ISO is 2,02GB. I kinda remember when I started downloading that it was over 3GB?? I just let the pc run and downloaded it for a couple of hours (slow connection) and it was finished when I got back.

I also read somewhere about the driver missing, that it could be some kind of filters that was set wrong or something...

Here is what they said: "It is not an optical drive issue, it is that the installation CANNOT FIND THE RIGHT SATA CONTROLLER DRIVER.
If your SATA controller is set to AHCI or RAID, the installation needs the right drivers. It should be on a cd or a DVD that came with the motherboard. That why it ask for a CD DVD driver(disk). If you don't have the driver disk, then go into BIOS and set controller mode to PATA or IDE or anything else than AHCI or RAID"

I did set it back to IDE after I removed my ssd (as it was AHCI), but let me check again...

Edit: Checked and its set to IDE, but what should it say under "SATA Configuration"?

Enhanced or compatible will run IDE. Compatible is probably the better/conservative setting.

As an aside to my previous post and your most recent post, you may need Enhanced for your hard drive and dvd drive to function together since it allows for IDE/SATA devices to work together.

Hi again. Ok, my HDD is defo damaged. When I tried to do a clean install from the new ISO, it stopped and got an error that some files on my HDD was damaged. Tried to repair and everything. Now I cant even get into that HDD as I formated it..lol.

I have installed my SSD again, even if, as you said, its not supported. It works ok, but some random crash to desktop when I play some games...

I got fed up and ordered a brand new monster computer :P Takes a week to get it though, so will play around abit with this one and see if I can fix some.

Thanks again for all your help and have a great day :)

Sorry to hear about your hard drive. Best of luck with the next system. :) You could always try re-installing on the ssd and see how that goes. Maybe with a working DVD, you will have a cleaner install and better stability.
