Gaming Problem!

Hello all,

I don't know exactly where to post this, so I'm posting in a couple relevant areas.

I've recently gotten a new computer (Dell StudioXPS 8100) for multimedia and gaming, but I've run into some problems with it.

During bouts of gaming in Dragon Age: Origins and City of Heroes, I've run into a problem originating with audio. After about an hour, the sound begins to get glitchy, repeating syllables in voiceovers and skipping in ambient music, almost like the entire track is being scratched, were it on vinyl. I have thusfar been unable to recreate the event in World of Warcraft.

After this occurs, should I continue to game, my internet connection never fails to disconnect, often not being able to reconnect until I force a restart on the computer, which takes an excessively long time during shutdown (anywhere from 10-20 minutes).

I'm running on an intel i5 processer, 8gb ram, 750gb memory, Windows 7-64bit THX TruStudio sound, ATI Radeon HD5770 graphics and am quickly losing my patience with this machine. All drivers are noted to be up to date when I scan for new updates.

Thanks for any help in advance

There could be a multitude of causes for this issue, but I'll just suggest the blanket fixes.

1) Uninstall all graphics and sound drivers and then reinstall with the latest versions from the manufacturer's website.

2) Export your save games to a safe place and reinstall the programs in case files are corrupt.

3) If those two things don't fix your problem, try searching the forums of those games for similar problems.

BTW: You should only post a problem once, regardless of where you think it should go. The moderators will move your post if need be.

Check to make sure you have proper cooling. If this problem occurs after a certain amount of time it may be due to your stuff getting hot. I would recommend grabbing some temperature software and when this occurs see what the temperature is.

Try to go into the Game's forum to see if this is a problem with the game itself... or google the problem.

While you are at it, make sure there are no patches for the game as they may fix the issue you are having with it.
