Solved Gbs reduced overnight?

I usually do a disc cleanup and run Mbam and SAS before shutting down for the night.

It shows higher GBs prior to shutting down than when booting up the next day.

I don't mind the loss, but what is the reason?

This is probably caused by the temp files being removed on shut down. Running Disc Clean up does remove temp files, but other temp files that are required by the system remain until shut down.

Funny, I also run Temp file cleaner by oldtimer, which is supposed to remove all temp files.

After that runs, the comp has to be restarted, but the changes aren't as big as when I boot instead of restart.

Check your shadowstorage before and after. The command is:

vssadmin list shadowstorage.

The Allocated counts.

Then I have no clue. What can possibly happen in a system without power. The only possibility is something happens at boot time. I would shut off the startup programs and see whether the problem goes away.

If I understand your question.
When you do a disk cleanup or use another program just remember that some things are still in use and can't be remove while they are in use.
So for the short time a computer goes through restart or shut down and startup those items are no longer in use and can be removed in the process.

That is why sometimes a restart will take a little longer after doing a clean. It is busy finishing the final touches to the cleanup.
