Hello, my computer has been blue screening alot and any help would be very much appreciated! The bsod's always seem to occur when i'm either watching videos on youtube or playing a video game, though I've also had crashes during start up. I also feel i should mention that my computer often has trouble starting and that i reinstalled windows seven a little while ago in a attempt to get rid of the bsod's, anyways here is some info.

System specs:
amd phenom II x4 975 (black edition) not currently overclocked
Asus m4a87td evo motherboard
sapphire hd 6950 2gb not currently overclocked
4GB (2GBx2) DDR3/1600MHz Dual Channel Memory Module
rosewill 80 plus bronze 1000w power supply

here are some error report things:

Hello! I ran driver verifier and well my computer started bsod'ing everytime I tried to start it. It finally started up properly after starting it with the repair thing for the third time and I only seem to have gotten one DMP file from all those bsod's, though I think they were all the same anyways. The attached file contains all the previous crash dumps but the 092112 file should be the one from the attempts at driver verifier.

I don't know if these are included in the DMP files but here they are anyway, these are from two bsod's during start up.

It is caused by AMD USB Filter Driver (that is, most probably, a part of the chipset drivers.)

I am not sure where to search for the chipset drivers for AMD, but you may have a look here : AMD Support & Drivers

I updated the chipset drivers and did notice a improvement in that my comp did'nt crash for quite awhile. However it did crash once after me getting told that shockwave flash had crashed while watching a youtube video,I'm not sure if this crash is related to the others but anyways here is the crash dump from it.

1. Please update your bios to Version 2001 there are lot of stability fixes... you are running version 1005

2. Most of the recent bsod's are caused by your graphic driver..... Please update your graphics driver by going here

3. Please disable and stop AMD fuel service...its sometimes causes crashes on some systems ....... by the way.... when you are updating the graphics driver make sure you update only the drivers and not the whole software suite..

4. I do see that you have one driver that is not installed ... the NEC USB 3.0 controller .... go here and to download and install it

Do these and let me know

Try to update your Realtek Realtek RTL8168D/8111D Family PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet NIC driver from Realtek

Moreover, you are to check your HDDs for possible errors.

  1. Reseat the sata and power.
  2. Run chkdsk /f/r, following the option two of the tutorial Disk Check
  3. Seatool for dos: SeaTools | Seagate download
Burn it in a blank cd. boot from the CD, click on "Accept", wait for it to finish detecting the drives, then in the upper left corner select "Basic Tests", then select "Long Test" and let it run.
Let us know the results.

I updated that driver and ran chkdsk/f/r but how do I find the results from the chkdsk? the results weren't displayed long enough for me to get anything down and i was wondering if it gets stored somewhere on my computer. updating the driver didn't seem to fix the issue. I haven't ran the seagate thing yet as I am trying to get ahold of a blank disk to burn it on as you said to. i'll attach the DMP file i got from today's crashes.

I would suggest you to uninstall it using Driver Fusion, and then reinstall it again. If it still crash, you should try installing an immediate older version of the display driver that worked flawlessly.

I tried a fresh install of 12.8 and tried 12.6 and even the 12.9 beta but with all of them i got crashes, and i was using driver fusion to uninstall the drivers between trying each of
them. I also noticed that during the installation of the drivers i did get error messages.
one of the times when i was having trouble starting up my computer i did get this message "the file is possibly corrupt. the header checksum does not match the computed checksum." very few of my crashes seem to give crash dumps properly as i only seem to have a crash dump from the 27th but i'll post that one anyway and i'll add what i got from the grab all button, just in case you want to look at that.

Hello, I ran driver verifier but I don't seem to have gotten any crash dumps from when I ran it. When I ran it this time I was able to start it up but once I was logged on it would freeze, but not go to a bluescreen. The few times it did go to a bluescreen were once i had turned driver verifier off and even then I didn't get any crash dumps from those.

I'll attach a grab all and the crash dumps but I don't think there is anything new unfortunately.

Hello Garcey, the zips you uploaded contain the latest dump of 27/09, which is already analyzed and posted in post #11.
View attachment 234412

Disable verifier, run the computer normally. if it crashes there, inform us with the dumps. We are to think differently then.

Hello, after running my computer without verifier on and getting plenty of bluescreens, I still do not have any new crash dumps. I don't know why but it simply refuses to make any new ones. Is there anything I can do to fix this?

Try to force minidump at crash.

  1. Go to Advance System Setting
  2. Under Performance .. click on setting ...
  3. Go to Advanced Tab and then under virtual memory click change
  4. check "Automatically Manage paging file size for all drives"..... click Ok and ok
  5. and if asked to restart do so....

Now you should be able to create a minidump
(By Centaur78).

Dell Studio 15" Laptop
I followed those steps and saw that "Automatically Manage paging file size for all drives" was already checked, so I unchecked then rechecked it and then restarted. My computer still won't make any crash dumps.

*edit* Is there anything else I can do to try and get it to make crash dumps? or is there something else I can do to try to fix my computer?

Have you done memtest on your RAM's.... most bsod are memory violation errors.... and looking at the trails of post... the system is unable to produce dumps..... So first lets rule out the hardware... Do a memtest for each RAM at each slot for atleast 6 to 8 passes..

Hello! It took awhile but I finally finished running memtest and after testing each RAM stick in each slot I got zero errors. Also my computer has inexplicably stopped crashing, All the things that used to crash my computer (i.e any game, though it would crash outside of games aswell) have been able to run without error. Should I consider the problem solved? or should I run some more tests even though at present time it won't crash and to my knowledge it still won't post crashdumps?
