Hi everyone, I joined the site today + have spent the last 4 hours (aparently) reading through tons of threads...I need some help before it drives me crazy..:picnic: I have 3 USB flash drives, one of 8GB, one of 16GB + the other 260GB. On the 8GB I have assorted videos, both mp4 + avi. I also have had picture files + mp3s on there. The 16GB I have about 14GB of average sized videos of the same formats. Both drives play perfectly well in WMP but only about half of the pics will play in my USB/DVD player connected to my tv, although they are of the same type. (strange)
Here's the biggie though, this has got me stumped, no matter what I try. On the 260GB drive I put about 75 full movies on there as I wanted to clear as much of my hd as I could (1TB) using WMP's sync function, it took nearly 2 days all in all but I was pleased that I could now take my time in burning the movies to disc. Luckily I didn't delete the original copies until I had made sure that I wouldn't lose them on the USB 1st. When I opened up my computer the drive showed, registered the amount of space used/remaining when I hovered over it with mouse. I clicked on the folder to open...So far so good, the movies were all there. They all showed the details of contents as they should....Until...I clicked on them + out of all the files, only 5 would play. All the rest were unplayable + listed when opened as having 00.00 as the length of movie in Properties. I ended up wasting all that time syncing from WMP + in the end, it hadn't worked. I even tried drag + drop/cut + paste with the same result. I had to scrap the whole 70 movies. I tried in RealPlayer, Windows Media Centre, still nothing..
I am so confused, I haven't a clue why it hasn't worked as some did...I tried it out with a few mp3s after to test + some will/won't play...If anyone can come up with any ideas as to why this is happening.....I'd be really grateful + relieved...I won't give up though.....lolol

Please tell us more about your 256GB Flash drive.

Brand, model Number, where bought and at what price?Whether it carries the manufacturer's warranty etc., etc.,

From your description of the problem, I don't rule out that being a fake drive.

A fake flash drive is a drive that has been altered to show a much larger capacity than it actually has. The labeling and packaging is often very convincing. A high proportion of large capacity drives sold by eBay and similar sites are in fact fakes.

Understand that even the best flash drives are not sufficiently reliable to serve as primary storage for important files. In addition to the reliability issues there is the possibility that the drive may be lost, stolen, or physically damaged. These devices should be used primarily as a transport media. All important files, regardless of the media they are stored on, require at least one backup copy, 2 or more backup copies if the files are of particular importance.
