Solved Gfx slow and then BSOD.

Okay, thanks for the detailed response.

There are probably no minidumps because I have not had any BSODs (yet!). I made sure that they were enabled anyway.

As far as the Audio controller...... (this is where the computer locked up and had to reboot, yay chrome saved the message!) ... I just threw it into the rig because I could, but I have no idea what model or brand it is to get the drivers for it. I've tried googling the numbers on the card (must be chipset numbers) but I've never found anything. Just going to disable it.

Most of the driv ... (another lockup and reboot) .. ers should've been updated, I installed all of the relevant drivers from asus' website, among other places.

Virus protection: ... I wasn't using any. Forgot to install it when I installed the operating system now. Going to install MSE and Malwarebyte's if I get the chance between these rapidly escalating amount of lockups.

CD-Rom drivers: I don't have a CD-rom drive in my system. Is there something I should disable to fix that error?

Thanks again/

Had my fourth lockup of the day, and decided to start up prime95 and run it until the the computer crashed; two hours later, got a BSOD: "SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION".

Will edit in the dump in a couple hours when I get the chance.

Edit: Nope, tried to run the sticky app to get the minidumps, but a quarter of the way through it locked up, and now it's not bootable at all. Just locks up anywhere from instantly to about 30 seconds into the boot process (also had some reboots, some screeching beep noises and a screen with vertical gray and black stripes).

Not good news.

Auto re-boot is usually from a crash and the 'Automatically restart' is enabled.

STOP 0x0000003B: SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION
Usual causes: System service, Device driver, graphics driver, ?memory
This indicates that an exception happened while executing a routine that transitions from non-privileged code to privileged code.
Cause: This error has been linked to excessive paged pool usage and may occur due to user-mode graphics drivers crossing over and passing bad data to the kernel code.

Can you get another graphics card to test your system with?

Just did a search and found that you are not alone.

Asus + G.skill combination Crashes
Found the same issues on several sites.
Some of them changed the motherboard for different model or brand, some changed the RAM brand, and had no more crashes.

You can try the RAM in slots A2&B2, or in single channel mode.

Well that sounds pretty likely, I finally gave in and bought a new motherboard (880GM-E41). Fairly confident that this should fix it one way or another.

Well, I guess we'll see once I get it rebuilt with it, but I really appreciate all the help you and others of given me

PS: Going to see if I can try the RAM from my brother's computer. If it works out I might be able to refund my motherboard I just purchased and instead upgrade to a 2x4gb of a different brand/model.

Edit: Brother's RAM is not compatible with my motherboard. The tough thing for me is that when the motherboard was giving me mem beep codes I went and bought a different brand and model stick to test it, and it still had the same problem. That seems to imply that each time the board is crashing with the G.Skill RAM it's actually (at least reversibly) damaging the motherboard, so I don't know if going and buying a different brand would even leave the system stable or if I'd have to go through another RMA process just to get everything settled.

Had some OK stability on B1/B2, but not much more than I would expect from a cold boot (was good long enough to run the bsod app). Running on 1 DIMM now and I'm fairly confident that it should run stable, as I did this a while back when one of the DIMMs in the set was faulty and it ran just fine.

Attached is the one minidump I have with all the other crap that it collects.

Edit: Not stable with one DIMM either! Think I'm going to find a set of RAM that I can confirm works with this board and then if it doesn't work I'll return it and use the motherboard I ordered.

All companies produce a lemon at some point, looks that is Asus's.

There were some comments that the RAM was overheating, this may cause motherboard damage.
I would push Asus for a full refund, they have probably given many for that board. If they wanted to do the right thing, they would upgrade everyone of those boards that were RMA'ed. With that and an apology they would have loyal customers.

I would ditch that motherboard before you damage the RAM, CPU (memory controller) along with the board.

Think there were some different RAM brands mentioned in the link above that worked for some people.

This is concerning, all main components are not performing well.
This would fall under a motherboard issue.

Yeah, I noticed that last bit in the perfmon but I just shrugged it off because I figured it was because I hadn't run a WEI check yet on that install of the OS.

I was hesitant to say this in fear of cursing it, but I think the system is solid as a rock.

I did a Prime95 Blend Test for 7+ hours overnight, no issues, core temp of 40 deg. Next up'd be a memtest followed by some OCage!

PS: I have an SSD now, and damn it is fast!!! Boosted my framerates by about 20 as well! :D

Well that's just... odd, an ssd should definitely make load times faster, but it making a heavy impact on your framerates... that just doesn't make sense.

Glad to hear you got it running stable.

Did you install the new MSI motherboard?

Same RAM?

Congrats on the SSD, which one did you get?
They are a great performance upgrade.

Yeah, installed the 880GM-E41... sadly I found out that I noobed up and it only has SATA II, so I bought a different one that I'll try out when it gets here and then refund the 880GM if it works. >.>

Same RAM (2x2GB 1333 G.Skill Ripjaws XXXXXXXXXX-4GBRL), no problems. The SSD I got was a OCZ Agility 3 60GB, benched at a little less than half of it's manufacturer's specs (221 write / 232 read) but I'm pretty sure that's because I have it on SATA II which has a theoretical max speed of 300 mb/s not including overhead.

As far as the SSD leading to FPS increases... that's in reference to playing World of Warcraft. I imagine the SSD increases rendering times of mid to distant graphic features by decreasing the load times of the necessary files, just speculation though (could also just be the general stability increase of the new mobo).

Thanks for the update.

SATA III will speed up the SSD, the posted speed specs are the absolute best case scenario burst rates for highly compressible data, the average speed will be slower.
The best advantage of a SSD is the access time, which makes everything run faster, all apps installed on the SSD will be able to respond faster.

If WOW is installed on your SSD it will speed up the FPS.
There are reports of the OS installed on the SSD and games on a HDD and it will increase FPS, not as much as when it's installed on the SSD but faster.
You are right, the motherboard will have a factor in system speed.

Let us know the results of the latest new motherboard, and SATA III and your SSD.

Yes, a cheap mobo will bottleneck everything.
