Solved Google Chrome dont work with youtube search

If you want to put the effort in - you can view the source code (like I did) for the YouTube's main page and keep adding sections of the code until you find what breaks it for you. You could use standard half splitting on the code.

On the real YouTube website - what happens if you place your cursor in Chrome's address field and then press tab?

Also - when you created a new user in Windows 7, did you install/test Chrome without any add-ons?

When i press tab, nothiing happens. And yes, there were no add-ons on the new user (guest) So now i have to try half splitting

The link to the half splitting was just an example of how to troubleshoot most anything. We can work on that after you answer the questions from my previous posts:

On the real YouTube website - what happens if you place your cursor in Chrome's address field and then press tab? Does the cursor go into the search form/field? If yes, can you then type into that search form?

In an earlier post, I asked you to create a new user on your W7 computer and then install a fresh copy of Chrome. You answered that the problem still happens in that fresh install - then I asked if there were any add-ons in that fresh install. In other words, did you install Chrome and then test YouTube's search or did you install something like this first?

It is okay if you don't understand my questions...
...just answer a question with a question - like:
what/where is the address field?

To start with, nothing happens when i press tab and have the cursor in the address field, and i do have adblock on my regular user but not on the new account, so that's that. Also if the new user is Guest, is that wrong or?

Thanks for that info. I'm testing the things that I suggest inside a virtual machine (VM) and I have the VM set to revert back to a clean state when I exit. So - each time I want to test something, I have to install Chrome again. This is not a problem, I only mention it to say that there have been 4 versions since I started in this thread. So please install 22.0.1229.0 DEV from here: Download Google Chrome 22.0.1229.0 Dev - FileHippo.com so that we are on the same version.

I opened my W7 Home Premium VM, installed Chrome for the regular user account, enabled the guest account, logged into to the guest account and installed Chrome again. The guest account should be fine for that test that I had in mind. Chrome installs into the user's profile area. So the fact that you still have a problem with the search form while using a fresh install in a different account tells us that the problem is not with your regular account's installation of Chrome or your add-ons. It points to somewhere else...

What anti-virus tool are you using?

What firewall software are you using - Windows 7 native firewall?

BTW, like most webpages, the one that we are working with loads slightly different code based on the browser being used to visit the page. So it is not that surprising that the search form works when you use IE, but not when you use Chrome since they are actually loading slightly different code.

I hope that you did not use the PC tune up tool that AVG is pushing on users.

Do a "view source" on YouTube's main page, copy all of the source code into a text file. Save and then rename that file with the html file extension. Open that file with Chrome using your normal W7 account. Does the search form/filed let you type stuff in?

Well that just messes up everything I was thinking :-(

Please try and make the same file. Surf to YouTube, right click somewhere on the page and select "view source" (or something like that). Once that opens, copy/paste/save all of the code into text file via notepad. Name it something that ends in html. Drag and drop that file into the body of the Chrome browser. See if you can type into the form.

You might need to unhide the file's extension:

If you still have the file, great - if not, please save it again and attach it to a post.

Just as a test, you might want to uninstall AVAST and try MSE.

Thanks - I'm comparing that file to the one that I saved. I've not found a difference that would break the search form.

I should have suggested that you log out before capturing/saving/posting that file. You might want to remove it from the post now since it has your e-mail address inside it.

I'll keep looking for a reason - but I think I'll ask others in the forum to take a look at this.

Hiya I might be wrong here but I didn't see you renew the chrome-profile on your computer.
Just like in Firefox a defective profile can render your browser useless. And if you re install chrome, chances are the same profile is used for that too.
It's quite simple and usually clears things up:
#1 close Chrome (you might even check in Taskmanager if it's really closed ;)
#2 go to C:\Users\<Username>\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\User Data\
There you'll find the folder Default rename it to something like Default.Backup or so
#3 Start Chrome a new folder Default will be created and thus your profile is renewed.
#4 It's generally not recommended because some things there were corrupted, but if everything works as expected you may carefully put items from the old profile back into the new one (like bookmarks etc.)
Of course chrome need to be closed again at that time ;)

Good luck
-DG
