Anyone else having a problem installing Google Earth on Windows 7?. I have tried everything I can think of with no luck, just keep getting either an error 1305 or 0x80070005, it appears to not be able to find a file called "msige61" or else a note, "Failed to cache the downloaded installer" Any help would be great.

Thanks for the reply Quickdraw, but I had already tried those two sites with no luck, any other suggestions.

Are you saying Google support was unable to address your concerns?

If so, we can continue to troubleshoot...

Thanks again Quickdraw, I have just got GE going. For anyone else having the same problem, GE not appearing to install, try this. Everything runs sweet but GE does not show in Programs and Features nor is there a desktop icon, just copy one to desktop.
c:\user\xxx\app data\local\temp\msige61\program files\google\google earth\client
click on "googleearth - application - 70KB" and you will have GE up and running.:):)

I've used them all, Firefox, Waterfox, Google, Opera, Safari, and whatever else the market offers. But, I still go back to IE.

People will argue all day that one or the other is best. I think the best one is the one you like to use... period.

The more software you add to your computer, the slower it gets. So, it's alway better to use only the software you use and get rid of the rest. Well, at least the ones which will not effect system operation. I'm mainly talking about third party blotware which comes installed on prebuilt systems from system builders, such as, HP, Dell, etc.

The location you have Google installed is not the correct location. This should be deleted by using Google removal tool. This way it will be fully removed from your system, so you can do a "clean install", with no issues.

You should always log in as administrator. Then during install you can grant user privledges to the other user accounts, if there are any.

You must download the 64 bit version, if you have a 64 bit system.

Judging by where Google is installed, tells me your computer may be infected.

And needs a good clean up.

Want type of maintenance software tools do you use?

Any of these: Internet Security software, which is an anti- virus and firewall. Malwarebytes, and CCleaner.

I could good on and on, but you get the general idea.

Let me know if you want to do any more. If not, and your happy with the way you system is setup and running is fine with me.

I'll be around. I help out in many Computer help and Spyware forums. On different websites. But, once you reply, I receive an email. And will respond shortly.

And if I don't know something. I have a lot of tech friends, just an email away.

There are many other members here to assist you. If I'm not around.

Finally, I've never seen such a path. Kind of makes you wonder how it even works! LOL

Ok,I know I should leave well alone now it is working but I like things to be right.
You say it is installed in the wrong place but how do I change it, it's not showing in Programs & Features so how do I uninstall, also where should it be installed, I just clicked install on the program I had downloaded & it found it's own way to where it is now. Thanks again for your help.

Should remove Google Earth. Run some clean up tools. Afterwards, reinstall it.

Let me know if you want to do this. I will provide the steps. And link you to the cleanup tools.

Ok, let's start with cleanup. Do you know how to run any maintenance tools?

What is the Internet Security software you use (the Anti-Virus & Firewall)?

Do you know how to use,

Microsoft Updates?

Malwarebytes?

CCleaner?

Disk Cleanup Tool?

Defragmenter?

Event Viewer?

Device Manager?

Registry Editor?

Just to get an idea of your computer skills?

I'll be going to bed soon. We can work on this a little at a time. No hurry.

Hi quickdraw, I may not have made my problem clear enough. I can't uninstall GE as it does not show as being installed, does not show in All Programs menu, Programs & Features, there is just no sign of it anywhere, so I cant use it's uninstaller. It was just a fluke I found it at c:\user\xxx\app data\local\temp\msige61\program files\google\google earth\client\google earth\ (which as you say is a funny place for it to be)& when I clicked on application I found I had a working GE.

Ok, in that case. Run a search for Google. Delete the files you find assocated with Google. Check registry to make sure any trace is deleted there. HKEY_CURRENT_USER, click the plus symbol to expand. Click on the plus next to SOFTWARE. Look for Google in the list. Right-click and delete. Go back to the top. Click on the minus symbol next to HKEY_CURRENT_USSER to close. Now, click on the plus symbol next to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE to expand. Follow the same process here as you just did with HKEY_CURRENT_USER. Now try to reinstall Google Earth.
