Solved Google sidebar alternative

I have been using Google Sidebar and receive my feeds from it.

I want to do a clean install, but found out that Google Sidebar is no longer available.

I really like the ease in which I receive the feeds.

Any alternatives that will place the feeds on my desktop?

Good question and not the way I use my system, mine flashes a instant message of the activity and then disappears.

What is the maximum capacity yours shows my older lappy is maxed at 8 but I think you can go 12-16? What does HP say under it's spec's and do they show a speed option. I hear rumor that 1600 is a no brainer and that 1866 is possible. Even if you get 1866 and it can't run it should and will roll down to 1600. I took a chance wit GSkill 1600 but my lappy rolled back to 1333 and it doesn't have anyway yo push the ram up in bios.

Have by any chance a copy of the original installer? If so, you can just simply use it to reinstall (BTW, always make backup copies of the installers of everything you use, just in case the disappear from their sites).

If not, and if you haven't already wiped everything, there is always the chance of trying to extract the installed program for deploy somewhere else. Try copying the whole folder from program files to your new system and give it a go, many programs actually don't need an install at all. you may try that in a virtual machine to test before the actual reformat.

I was thinking the same thing.

Thought it would be in Programs or x86 - but no luck.

I even did a search - I use Everything and if it is there, it would find it.

Unless it is listed under something else.

The folder should be easy to locate.
If you have a shortcut, go to properties => shortcut tab => open location, will open an explorer window pointing to the .exe.
Without a shortcut, but with the program running, you may open task manager => processes tab => find its executable there => right click, open file location.
In both cases you'll be directed to the program folder. Most likely it'll be within program files or program files (x86), or if not, some programs install themselves in appdata for each user.

I went to Start and Properties of Google Sidebar and found it.

Since it is no longer offered by Google, do you think it will still launch anyway?

I just copied the program to an external hdd and got this error- strange because it runs on my PC.,where I tested launching it from..

Going to try now on laptop.

Don't know how exactly it works (I don't use it), but if it's a full installer then it will work no matter what. Once a program is on your computer, it will continue to work in the exact same way, unless it relies on some web access which may have been severed by the provider.
Copy everything, not just the .exe, but the whole folder and all its contents, that's why you're getting the message, a missing .dll.

When I go to Start and click either Google Desktop or Google Sidebar, it brings me to Desktop.exe., which is what I copied to external hdd and tried to launch from there, but no luck.

I'd like to try a similar program - just can't find one.

What program do you use to view rss feeds - i.e. Sevenforums.

Do you just go to the forums and search threads?
