Hello. Is it normal for the temperature to be at 70 C while playing a game? And the GPU core at 100% workload ? I was playing the Witcher game, which requires 8 ram. So does the ram have anything to do with the GPU temps and workload, or this is normal while running a game.. ?

GPU : Nvidia GeForce GTX 980
RAM : 6 gb
CPU : Intel Core i7 950

Here is an image.

BTW i took this image after i closed the game thus the 0% video engine...

Hi,
Not sure I've always use a custom fan profile using msi afterburner,
https://gaming.msi.com/features/afterburner

But yea the default for these silent cards does show a silly default temp like that you can as said use a custom fan profile to lower it.

I don't know how demanding the witcher game is . I play Crysis in the summer and temps stay below 60C. Don't depend on the Nvidia driver to regulate proper fan speed. I also use afterburner as thrash suggested to OC gpu's and set fan speed. Don't worry you will hear the Vid cards fans when set to 100% and you won't screw them up. heres the MSI link with features/tutorials & downloads v4.2.0 . https://gaming.msi.com/features/afterburner

It`s hard to mess anything up.

Just turn up the fan to 60 or 70% before gaming, and then just reset it to defaults when you`re done.

Now just turn off Auto by clicking on it, then drag the fan speed bar to the right and set it where you want it.

When you`re done gaming, just click Auto again.

To answer your question, it is perfectly normal for a graphics card to reach 70 degrees while gaming.

This is after i played the game for about 15 minutes.
So before i start playing the game i should set the fan speed ? What number do you suggest ? 70-80 % fan speed ? Ty for replying ,appreciate it.

But if you turn up the fan speed, the temp should drop a bit.

Hi,
Yep no reason to have it getting that hot just for odd quiet features not sure what NVidia was thinking with that.
Hot gpu = hotter system temperature.
