Solved GTA 4 crashes on startup

Hi! I am new here, actually my first post.

I am having a problem with my game which i just bought. Whenever i start my game i log in thorough social club, i easily get logged in but then when the game starts my screen goes black and then after 5 secs i get a error that Grand Theft Auto has stopped working windows is collecting information.
I have tried every thing, i searched every post, i even contacted rockstar games about the problem but they didnt reply!
I tried the following things:
1. running the game the compatibility mode (windows vista and windows xp)
2. ran the setup in compatibility mode (windows vista and windows xp)
3. installed games for windows client.
4. updated the game.
5. tried all the things after updating the games.
6. re installed the game more than 10 times.
7. re installed vcredist and other microsoft's softwares.
8. dissabled firewall.

I have a original game and have complete edition of the game which includes both the GTA 4 and EFLC.
Please help me to run this game.


my system configs are
windows 7 ultimate 64bit
4 gb ram
2.6 ghz dual core processor
512 video memory

Hard Disk Space: 16GB free
Operating System: Windows XP SP3 or Windows Vista SP1

Basically what you need minimally to run the game.

Is this running on a laptop or on a desktop? If it's a laptop, I doubt it'd run very well, even with those specs.

Right click
Properties
Compatibility
Run the program as an administrator

Yes, the game worked for only 4 hours, then i switched off my pc but when next day i tried to run it, the error started coming! And now i have re installed it so many times but still the error comes up.

It has been happening to me lately, hopefully someone can help with the problem.. or Rockstar come up with another patch to address the issue.

download and install this patch (run the .exe file)

After installing the patch you should have a folder in your steam directory called RGSC.
C:>program files>steam>steamapps>common>grand theft auto iv>GTAIV>RGSC

now do this as follows.

1)exit steam totally.

2)run the RGSClauncher.exe in the RGSC folder, you will be prompted to log into social club (leave this log in screen do not do anything to it.)

3)go back to your GTAIV folder and run LaunchGTAIV.exe (WITH THE SOCIAL CLUB STILL OPEN)

4)now press play (offline) on the social club log in, GTAIV will start.
