GTA 4 on win7

I had gta4 on win vista previously, then i got win7, anyhow i installed it with lots of efforts, then it ran, but it is much slow that it previously ran on vista.:sarc: anybody got any solution for this?
my configuration
Core2Duo E4600 2.4 GHz
nVIDIA 8600 GT with 1 GB Memory
2 GB RAM
I have to close down all the applications to play the game.

Well, in overall the lack of performance and optimization in GTAIV is the thing that annoys me most. And im not speaking of illegit copys with cracks downloaded on the web.

I would sugest some support of non-Rockstar people. I think i should suggest you this: [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XFkqZ5Dk7HQ"]YouTube - GTA IV Ultimate Graphics Tweak[/ame] Gives a bit of work but it really maked the effort.

I know alot of people managed to speed up GTA4 and/or remove the 'extreme lagg' by running it in Compatibillity Mode. Have you tried that yet?

yes i have tried running gta4 in each & every compatibility mode
xp, vista, server 2003 does not work
only 2000, NT work
tried both 2000, NT but still the game is slow
i have to close down all the applicationz to play the game smoothely

To run well without any lag, and not close any applications, you are best off getting a quad core processor and 4gb memory

Again, you could be surprised. GTAIV - pc reacts very poorly to the most extreme hardware in very higher resolutions. ive seen better performance only with 720p on xbox360. With some mods and tweaking you cange it to almost perfect.

I have the same problem with gta4
I run Core i7 920 on asus x58 motherboard with 6giga ram and gtx260
so my specs are okay. but still slow

Please try some Rockstar patches, if the problems insist, try some tweaking and performance mods at websites like gtagarage.com.

isnt iCore 7 like 20 cores or something, im not good with the whole proccessor thing. GTA 4 is very CPU intensive and doesnt work prefectly on the best computers

If you are talking about Core i7, should be more than able to run it, if paired with a good graphic card, of course. And no its not 20 cores, its more like 4.
