I have 3 drives in my system.
Boot Drive
2TB WD Black Caviar
3TB Hitachi Deskstar

The 2TB will come & go. Sometimes its there, sometimes it's not. I have replaced the HD (it used to be a Hitachi), replaced cables, changed drive letter and even replaced the motherboard to no avail.

Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks!

I think the first thing to do would be to download Western Digital's hard drive diagnostic program, Data lifeguard. That should be able to tell you if the problem is the hard drive or something else. If the drive fails, you can try to RMA it if still under warranty.

Thanks for your reply. I'm pretty sure it's not the drive. It (the WD) is a new drive and the previous drive that I replaced with this one did the exact same thing. It was a totally different brand (Hitachi Deskstar)
