Recently, my computer has seemed a bit slower and just last night while watching a YouTube video, the video froze, the monitor went black and came back on but the video was black and the buttons in FF did not load properly. I researched the error online and many people were stating that the issue could be with the PSU. I had this error before at my old apartment, but it seemed to be caused by my graphics driver because when I updated it, the problem was fixed.

I am paranoid that my hardware is getting old and that I will have to do research to find compatible equipment--I don't want to spend money on hardware that works fine. The problem is I don't know the signs or how to tell which hardware needs replaced and which hardware I can keep. I just purchased my CPU last year so I don't think it would be causing an issue, but if my MOBO is the problem, I may need to get a new CPU.

First off can yo ufill in your system specs as linked in my signature, at the moment we have no idea what hardware you have. Following that there is a list of stress and diagnostic tests detailed below, feel free to perform them at your own convenience if you wish.

   Warning
:warn: If you're overclocking your system, revert back to stock clocks now. :warn:

   Note
Test the system once the overclock is removed before continuing with the steps outlined below.

Part One: CPU Stress Test
Part Two: MemTest86+ RAM Diagnostic
Part Three: Hard Drive Diagnostics
Part Four: GPU Stress Test

ONE

 CPU TEST

:ar: Run Prime95 to stress test your CPU. http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/100352-hardware-stress-test-prime95.html

   Warning
Your CPU temperatures will rise quickly while under this stress test. Keep a keen eye on them and abort the test if overheating occurs.

TWO

 RAM TEST

:ar: Run MemTest86+ to analyse your RAM. http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/105647-ram-test-memtest86.html

   Note
picture.php

MemTest86+ needs to be run for at least 8 passes for conclusive results. Set it running before you go to bed and leave it overnight. We're looking for zero errors here. Even a single error will indicate RAM failure.

THREE

 HDD TEST

:ar: Run SeaTools to check the integrity of your HDD. http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/313457-seatools-dos-windows-how-use.html

   Note
Do not run SeaTools on an SSD as the results will be invalid.

:ar: Run chkdsk http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/433-disk-check.html

FOUR

 GPU TEST

:ar: Run Furmark to stress test your GPU. http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/100356-video-card-stress-test-furmark.html

   Note
Run Furmark for around 30 minutes.
   Warning
Your GPU temperatures will rise quickly while Furmark is running. Keep a keen eye on them and abort the test if overheating occurs.

It just happened that one time. I haven't had a chance to test it recently.

I've updated my system info to the best of my knowledge.

To be honest I wouldn't worry much about it until it happens again soon. Otherwise Boozad's advice is what I would do.

Should I post the results from each test when I get a chance to run them?

So last night when I got home from work, I went to "wake" my display, but when I moved the mouse or pressed a key, nothing happened; the monitor display remained off. I had to do a hard reboot and everything was fine.
