Hdd disapears

I have a seagate hdd that is recognized by the system on boot up but when it comes out of hibernation the hdd isn't recognized. I'm running win7 home prem. 64bit

Is that an internal or an external disk. And if it is external, is it USB powered or does it have it's own power. I am asking because one possibility is that the power got cut off.

Internal 120g IDE drive

Sorry the hot-fix didn't apply to your case, I think. It still sounds like a similar issue though - the hard drive is not spinning up out of hibernation quickly enough so the system is dropping it. I would suggest you look at the spin-up time reported by SMART, but since it is IDE, that won;t work.

Have you looked in the system log for ATAPI or other associated errors?

Why are you useing hibernate on a desktop, it was made for laptops to save power. Most people use sleep mode which can be set in power options to turn off your monitor and hdd's on any schedule you want. There are way fewer prob's useing sleep

Select event viewer -> Windows Logs -> System

On the right hand side select "filter current log"
Check Event level: critical, warning and error and press OK

My HDD isn't recognized by win7 after it comes out of sleep. Is there anyone who has any idea why this is happening. its an IDE HDD
