Headset Issue

Hi, I have a headset/mic and a set of speakers, I have my speakers plugged into Front Speaker port and headset into rear, on XP this worked fine as I could use both at once or turn off the speakers and just use my headset, it appears in Windows 7 this isn't the case.

I have the latest Realtek drivers and tried the registry change and nothing has allowed me to use both at once.

I'm trying to use Ventrilo and I can only get sound through my speakers and as I'm trying to speak to people this isn't the best audio source.

Anyone found a fix for this problem as I really like Windows 7, but I need this to work.

Thanks.

You have to set the headset microphone and the headset earphones as their default sounds/recording devices. Your speakers are set to the default sound devices, when you want your headphone/mic set to default. I imagine if you disconnected your headset sound will go through your speakers. Hope this helps!

You need to get it to detect your headphones then... You mentioned that it already detects your mic, so why not the headphones?

Is it a headset or headphones? Like, is your mic ON your headset or is it a separate mic?

Got the same issue..and somewhat got it sorted now..

problem i had was that i could only use my speakerset.. headset was in no way working.

a sort of fix is the following (at least for me)
- go to control panel
- Sound
- There you'll see speakerset/headset/SPDIF.
- Rightclick Headset and select Set as default

when you rightclick on Headset and choose 'Test' then you'll hear the test sound through your headset... If you choose 'Set as default', then your headset will work (but your speakers won't:(). so you'll have to change this setting each time you want to change between speakers/headset.

Yes i am aware of that. In your special case this doesn't work. It can only set endpoints which are recognized by windows, it doesn't create them.

Did you solve your issue btw?
