interesting... what's your subnet mask? is it 255.255.255.0 or 255.255.0.0? i assume you can't ping 192.168.100.1 either then.

what browser are you using to get to the page? what exactly comes up on the screen when you navigate to that URL? is there any (http)source(code) to the page? any SS of what it looks like when you navigate there?

based on that, youre definitely getting to the modem...

try:

http://192.168.100.1/webstar.html
http://192.168.100.1/system.asp

usually, the only reason your browser would try to interpret that page as an image is if the modem is telling your browser that the page it's sending you is a different content type (gif). you'd need to look at the HTTP response header to be sure though.

edit -- i see that you said you tried a bunch of stuff already... if they're ALL trying to open it as images, maybe they ARE blocking you from it.

if you want to get hardcore about this, create a port forward on your router pointing port 80 TCP to 192.168.100.1 TCP and give me your ISP address... ill see if i can get to your modem.

for instance, you can get to mine:

http://70.95.153.70:1234

that's very strange. the only time i've seen a web server serve raw HTML is because the web server doesn't know how to tell the client to view the page as HTML.

but if ALL your browsers are doing it, i can't even BEGIN to wonder what the problem is. it would obviously be an issue with your system. perhaps a firewall is sanitizing the request somehow...

try to get to it by going into safe mode w/ networking. if the page shows up as expected, something in normal mode is messing up the web page...

my values read:

NameWebSTAR DPC2100R2
Hardware Version2.1
Software Versionv2.0.2r1256-060303
Receive Power Level-12.6 dBmV
Transmit Power Level51.0 dBmV

other than that, i know NOTHING about the signal that the internet rides over. your ISP can tell you what the normal levels are.
