Okay that is very simple. Alright do what i ask about redoing the computer.

and then take photos of the programs you have installed in your Add/Remove (Programs and Features) *windows 7* and then all of us will tell you what you can keep and what to remove from that list.... the list will be long so snip a few photos okay.

like i said make sure you update all your core files with windows update first okay.

Don't touch anything or make any modifications till we get all the bloatware off your computer and configured correctly.

Since you only have one computer with Windows 7.
I would deactivate your IP6 on all computers.
Your not going to be using HOmegroup anytime soon.
Use these for your DNS servers.... They are from www.opendns.com

Subnet: 255.255.255.0

Everything else is the same

Everytime you add a computer. Justchange the digit on the IP address so there is
no conflicts.

Update, I've installed codecs adobe and java. I've deleted the stuff off of my computer but admittedly not all of the "just cause you don't need it" list.

Now, I'm not exactly sure where to put the info into my router. The onlything that I see that I have to work with is DDNS...right now it's disabled. I've got 3 choices for server address a host name, user name and a password spot. other than that I'm not seeing where I'd put the information into.

Please go to RUN >>> type : msconfig >> go to the STARTUP tap

could you please take a picture of that for us pleae see how many processes are running.

Another thing We should take a look at:

Open up IE, click on TOOLS, go to MANAGE ADD ONS, can you stretch it our vertically and take a photo of that so we can see what is loading up with your IE as well.

I see that you kept the Mcafee software on your computer. Do you actually have a full key for this software or are you running the trial version?

I am looking at your first photo of your Startup:
1) Alive Idea Desktop - I looked around the internet and it takes up alot of resorces. No one has any idea what it is and since it is in your system configuration. I take it that you didn't delete it. I would suggest it.

2) Lenovo Veriface - That is just a face reconzation software for your camera on the laptop itself. I am not sure how important that is to you. I would delete it from the computer.

3) Uncheck the Java Platform. - I assure you there is no reason to have that on especially when a java update comes out everyone 4 months or so. No reason to check it every single day

Ok, actually I wasn't sure what the alive idea desktop was and therefore didn't delete it. I had the mcafee gone but since I restored to factory default, it's back. And no, it's just a trial. I do have the full version of Norton though, that's usually what I've always used in the past. The veriface program makes my fiancee jealous so that's reason enough for me to keep it.

yes those will all go away once you unintsall mcafee

and once you delete it, it will revert the windows firewall back to default.

do you have any special applicatons

remote desktop ftp... things like that...

are you running firewalls on your other computers?

becuase also we need to set up your computer to be able to connect to the other computers..

McAfees gone. Windows XP Media Center and Windows Vista Home premium. Should we be getting into the networking stuff when I still can't watch a video online without having to jump it ahead or it will never move on. Also, when downloading the java and stuff, it took about 5 tries for each thing cause it stalls out
Both are running Norton and I'm not sure if the firewalls are enabled

Well I was asking you those things so i can prepare myself to know what to write you as you fix the other things.....I need something to do while I wait for a response.

Would you mind setting up a Remote Desktop Connection? This will allow me to see your desktop but I won't have actual control. That way we can go through and find out one by one what is going on.
