Hey guys ,i'm new here. hope you can help me

I have asus x551c laptop that upgraded from windows 7 to windows 10 last week which was a huge mistake because i didn't like so i downgraded back to windows seven, i was tired so i just left it to perform the downgrade while i slept without plugging the laptop into power. Next day i switched on my laptop to receive a long message that windows has detected a problem so it shut down to protect laptop. i had two options

1. launch start up repair which never worked coz i receive the ' start up repair cannot repair this computer automatically' message

2. start windows normally which winds me back to option 1

i tried the advanced repair and it's not working
1. system restore option does not work causei have no restore points in my drive

2 system image recovery, windows memory diagnostic and command prompt dnt work.

However when i use the safe mode i'm able to access the front page of my laptop but the keyboard does not work for me to type in my password. Please help  I have too much work, important notes and files on this computer. Please help.

Hello and welcome helpmepleaz mate have you tried the factory restore method with the laptop?? If you do I think the F9 button is held down during power up and it will guide you through the reset.

However this will lose all the data on your laptop because the special partition for the factory reset will set the machine to the condition that it first came in, and you will have to start from scratch.

Now seeing you did not like 10 I would recommend that if you do reset the machine as I described that the first thing you should install is the disbale batch file form this Upgrade to Windows 10 Update - Enable or Disable in Windows 7 or 8.1 - Windows 10 Forums

Then set the updates to what s in my pic and if you do download and install some - I have given up installing updates personally - and do watch out for KB3035533

then download and keep on your desktop this Ultimate Outsider - Software Downloads < just the Control Panle app see pic on what to check for

The rest is then up to you to put back saved data, programs etc

Thing is you don't have to lose data;) see these for retrieving data to an external using on of the methods. They use a Linux based OS so doesn't involve Windows
BOOTABLE UBUNTU
Make a bootable Ubuntu disk Download Ubuntu Desktop | Download | Ubuntu
Set the BIOS to boot from the optical when the machine boots it will show you a screen with TRY or INSTALL > select TRY not INSTALL
When it is finished - it takes very little time you will get a screen like in the pic .
Open the drive you want > User and dig down until you get to the data / settings you may be able to copy / paste the material you want to an external source or other installed drive doing this.
I am not sure if it will but I have recovered tons of data etc using this method both on "dead" or just plain drives that you cannot get data from using Windows.

I use the Ubuntu method only because it is quicker in my own experience but the Linux app is good to run a Linux based OS on a separate drive if need be.
