Help please! W7 DVD Player Won't open

[Watashi]

This problem happened twice. First is that, this happened to be like this, it does not open but a yellow light does shows up. I click a small circle on it and it does opened.

But now, it's light does not shows up, and again it WON'T OPEN up. I tried the same thing, I click the small circle on it but still it diddn't solve the problem. What should I do?

Watashi mate some system specs please cannot help if we do not know what we are dealing with.

sounds like is is trying to physically open it and its motor is shot or stuck you need to stick a paperclip into the hole like shown in the pic below. turn the computer off first.

That is a good tip form RCV but mate they are so cheap why don't you just replace it because I can assure you if you open it up unless you are some sort of genius you will not be able to repair it.

PS On second thoughts you do mean the hardware and not the program!! If you want anymore help mate those system specs please!

Are you trying to open the device using Windows 7 or are you trying to open the device by using the button on the device?

Hmm Layback mate it would be nice to know if it is the hardware or the program as the query is a little ambiguous really. Some systems specs would be the thing I would like to see.
I am just wondering that because the OP says W7 DVD player and that could mean either??

Watashi mate the LG model number please - I don't know but have not come across an LG computer if you mean the number of the DVD players then use this and see pic

Using HW Info general components

DownloadHW Info and pick the right bit version - HWiNFO, HWiNFO32/64 - Download - (copy andpaste this site into the search bar) If you do not need the running informationin the smaller right hand panel close it. In the left hand window click on the+ for the individual device groupings and they will open out to the variouscomponents.

Goon opening out further until you get to the device itself. click on it and itwill highlight. In the right hand window there will be a very detaileddescription of that device as in brand, speeds model number etc etc These arevery detailed and are just what is needed for searching for drivers etc.

Seemy pic for an example - in this I have opened out my drives and then highlighted the optical and you can see the detail.

Hi there

Lets start at the beginning -- can you actually put a DVD into the player. - If you can't get the wretched device to open then at least we know it's a hardware (possibly) issue --- Switch the ENTIRE machine off FROM THE POWER SUPPLY and re-boot -- sometimes Windows takes over the device so you can't open it.

Post back at least that piece of info.

People can try and sort out things for you here on the forums but it's best to explain what the symptoms are -- otherwise it's a huge problem. Imagine just calling up a motor mechanic and saying "I think my Car is broken" !!.

Watashi mate do not understand that young folk speak if you can let us know just what the problem is as jimbo says does the hardware not work ie opening up and closing and playing the disk or is it the OS is not using the data stream coming through from the optical drive?

If we go by what jimbo says from the beginning that circle you push just what is it? as most optical have a rectangular shaped button to open and close the tray that holds the CD or DVD. What you are describing sounds very much like a power on/off button. To the best of my knowledge the optical only functions when the rectangular button is pushed.

I'm gonna clear it up. I'm using a bit-37 windows 7. My problem is just that the pc player (hardware) won't open. The yellow light on it that indicates that it is on, wont even light up. Now I've just updated my specs on my profile info. Sorry if I havent put it in here. Guess I'll just pay for someone to repair this.

Mate for the cost of a replacement you would be stark raving not to just do it yourself. Out here the player itself would be around $25 and it is a VERY simple job - all you need to do is ask as we can guide you through that so easily and you will be saving a bundle on what a techie will charge you for his labour alone.
