Right now I'm trying to upgrade my computer to make full use of all 32 GB of ram I have. I am running windows 7 home premium 32 bit, and I'm trying to upgrade to professional 64 bit. I burned the .iso file onto a DVD-R disk(I don't think this is the problem), but when I boot from it it says device drivers are missing and I should install the drivers. It always comes to the same screen, and I can't get past it. I've tried putting all the driver disks I know of in it, but it doesn't find any. I have tried everything from messing with the SATA bios settings to updating the bios to re-burning the iso file, but nothing works. Is this because I'm trying to install professional after having home premium? Is there some way I can avoid this problem without buying anything? Do I have to do a windows anytime upgrade to professional and then do it? I am really confused right now and I don't know what to do. I've been trying this for two weeks and it still doesn't work.

Thanks in advance

Welcome to Windows Seven Forums.

Are you actually trying to do an upgrade from 32 bit to 64 bit. You can't do an upgrade as such, you have to do a complete reinstall. So that means you will lose all data on your hard drive, so you should make sure you have a back up of all your private files. You will also have to reinstall any other software programs you currently use, so you need to make sure you have their activation codes on hand.

Check out this tutorial for how to install Windows 7.

You will also need to have an activation key for Windows Professional x64.

I tried using the free ISO burner AddRAM recommended with a DVD+R DL disk(it is compatible with the drive, I know that), but it gets and error then aborts burning the file. This also happens with DVD-R disks too.

Use Win7 Professinoal x64 English Official ISO Download burned to disk or flash stick using Windows 7 USB-DVD Download Tool as provided in Clean Reinstall Windows 7 .

There's a reason why over a million users have followed Clean Reinstall Windows 7 without a single complaint and never needing to return with problems if they stick with those tools and methods.

If the ISO you used is showing the correct size and you know for sure it completed download then you can use it.

If DVD install fails try flash stick written with same tool.

USB thumb drives are my preferred mode of install. It's been my experience that its faster than doing it with optical media. Creating the media is relatively easy too. The Windows 7 USB DVD Download Tool is one of my preferred methods of creating a bootable install thumb drive. It's not limited to Windows 7 ISO's either, it will work with Windows 8 ISO's as well. For standard non UEFI installs anyway. It does sound like your ISO may be corrupt and a download from an alternate source might be the way to go.
