Hey,

Im thinking of buying a laptop, and it will come with Windows 7 Home Edition (32bit) I have read that Windows XP mode is only accessible in Windows 7 Professional+

I'm afraid that some of my programs wont run in windows 7 home edition, should I be? Will windows XP versions run fine in 7? Because on webstie there are windows vista and xp version downloads but none have 7, should I just download the XP version?

If my XP programs wont work, is there an alternate method to "Windows XP Mode"?

Thanks :)
Chris

If you have DOS apps, then probably not. Anything higher will most likely work. The easiest option is to switch to Win 7 compatible apps. Which laptop? x86 7 is rather rare.

just a random question

Hey, just a question out of the blue, would this laptop be able to handle 3D games well?

and do you know how it would do in Massive Multiplayer games. Just wondering thanks :D

You will be able to run some games, but not the latest unfortunately. If you are playing WoW, this laptop will be able to run it. But, I don't guarantee that it will run it on very high on all settings though. In general, it will run games that doesn't need a very good configuration.

If you want to game, get a desktop with a good Intel Core i5/i7 CPU, with a good dedicated card, then, you'll be ready to game most of the game (99% of the games) in a very confortable manner. But if the only thing you are playing is WoW... don't need too much of a computer for that... that laptop will run it.

EDIT

Oh and, most of the softwares will run on Windows 7. Don't worry ;)

I'd reconsider, the RAM is adequate (just), but the GPU is obsolete, the CPU is slow (Pentium?) and the whole laptop seems refreshed from the Vista era with 7 pre installed.

Is that a bad thing? I havn't bought a new computer since the Windows XP era

Yes. You want

1) 4GB DDR3 1066MHz

2) 7 x64

3) Dedicated 512MB GPU, preferably ATI

4) 2.6GHz Core 2 Duo/ AMD Athlon X2

5) 500GB 7200RPM HDD.
