Solved Window 7 Home Edition - Home Group -How to Make Changes In Registry ??

Hi

I am trying to remove or change my name from on a laptop in the Windows 7 Home Edition Registry. I found I cannot remove it or change it in the HomeGroupProvider ServiceData in the Registry. If you try to Delete it or change it I get - Unable to delete all specified values - any ideas??? it show up in three different ones. NetworkName , Owner and OwnerMachineName and three different HomeGroupProvider ServiceData places.

Do not want to reload Windows 7 since do not have Discs and Activation number on bottom is too worn to see it all.

There should be a way to access these values and change in the Registry. Something is not allowing it.

Any help would be appreciated.

PS: Unless there is something missing in your post, you don't need to edit the registry.

You can get the PAK by running Speccy and clicking on Operating System. It is under the Installation date.

Hi

Going to sell the Laptop so did a search of Registry for my Name - found it in "HomeGroupProvider ServiceData" in a few places. Tried to change or delete values - it will not allow me. So trying to find out how to access these values so you can change them.

Already changed the Computer Name and Workgroup this did not change them.

Looking for someone to tell me how to access these values so you can change in Registry.

Hi

Found a fix for it - downloaded some Free Registry Editor Software and this allowed the changes to be made no problem.
