I had a problem with Media Center not recording any programs, so I removed it and reinstalled it to try to fix it. It reinstalls but with an error message that says not all blah blah was insatalled correctly. Media Center is there and works but if I click restart(ie reboot the installation process) media center and WMP are both not installed. I'm on Win 7 64bit.

ps. Tried to Repair with the installation disk but report says no repairs are needed.

I had this EXACT same problem for months. I finally fixed it by accident. I was having a problem getting Defender to start and in the process discovered Event Viewer was kaput. Event Viewer was showing an error code so I Googled that and it seemed to be a permissions problem in some folder. Took ownership of that and it somehow fixed the Media Center/Player and the Event Viewer problems. The error code might have been a 1042 or somesuch. 10 something anyway.. Wish I could be more specific but I use the Google an bumble approach to problems while thinking of a dozen other things which boils down to having no clue as to what really happened. Anyway check your Event Viewer?

I keep getting the message, "Event viewer is unavailable" It is switched on in services so I'm baffled atm.

Ouch! Without a code to chase I am lost... Try Googling Event Viewer won't open and stuff like that? Be sure to enter your OS too.....
