Solved High CPU On Random Programs

I really appreciate the responses guys.

I attached the requested files. It has not yet done it within the past two hours so I haven't got a chance to do the Resource Monitor screenshot.

Edit: I originally used MSE but that would always use 30-50% CPU even when I wasn't having the "spikes."

As I statedd, with all of that other stuff running, it is no wonder that you have problems.

Excellent.

I'm going to give you a list of programs which I would uninstall.

After the uninstall, you will find your system running better.

You can then start adding them back in, one by one, to locate the programs which are slowing your system.

Since you have been running Torrent software, then:
1. I very strongly recommend removing all peer-2-peer programs and torrent is one of those,
2. run an offline anti-malware progam, namely, WDO. Link in my signature.

Here are links indicating the downside of p2p programs:
As long as you are using any form of P2P networking to download files, you can anticipate malware infestations.

I tried uninstalling what I don't need and I am still getting it. I tried the capture a picture of the resource monitor but the computer basically froze and had to be shutdown. I would also like to mention that this happens in safe mode too.

Okay, we need to check your temps. DownloadCPUID - System & hardware benchmark, monitoring, reporting so we can identify what you have. And download this CPUID - System & hardware benchmark, monitoring, reportingso we can monitor temps. After you get them downloaded, shut down the pc and let it cool for about ten minutes. Then reboot, immediately run HWmonitor, then load CPUz. Let the computer sit for ten minutes, running idle. Then use it for ten minutes. After doing so, screenie the CPUz and HWmonitor screens.

I use Symantec, superantispyware, and ad-aware. I have Spybot installed but rarely use it.

Uninstall Superantispyware.

Uninstall Ad-Aware.

Uninstall Spybot.

If you are using the free or if you are using any version of Symantec other than the very latest, then:
Uninstall Symantec AND
install Microsoft Security Essentials ,MSE, link in my signature.

These steps are imperative.

After you problems are gone, and only then, you can a) make a full and complete system image backup and then b) reinstall your problem makers. The system image backup will enable you to put your system back like it was.

Remember, a clean system, without all of the marvelous wonder-curing programs, runs smoothly. The additional sofware that you install is what causes the problems. One should always have a backup plan if one desires to install third-party software and,yes, I use 3rd party software that has the Windows Logo. I avoid all of the wonder programs. I use Microsoft security software and only Microsoft security software. I use Win 7 Backup and Restore to make my system image backups.

If you want to get malware, be sure to use peer2peer software, especially torrent software.

I'll see what I can do, on the other hand here are the images requested.

Edit: the highest I've ever seen my CPU go before is about 165 but that is pretty rare.

Alright, I've got all of those uninstalled. I even uninstalled Symantec just to see and have installed MSE. I will report back if it still occurs.

Sad to say, but it is still doing it. Here is the latest snapshot of task manager.

It was sitting at around 5-10% and then it when up to 100% out of nowhere. I don't know if you noticed but audiodg.exe is always a contributor to a lot of CPU usage and I don't have anything enabled in the audio settings.

How does it perform when you do a clean boot using MSconfig? Bring it down to a bare minimum and see how it idles for awhile.

This will probably fix your problem:
UPDATING YOUR WIN 7
ASSURE THAT YOU RECEIVE ALL UPDATES
WIN | type WINDOWS UPDATE | ENTER |
Change settings (left-hand column) |
checkmark all four of the boxes | OK button

Approve any dialog boxes presented. Let Windows install any update features.

WIN is the key with the Microsoft flag on top.

INSTALL CRITICAL UPDATES
Check for Updates (left-hand column)
Install ALL critical updates.
Restart your computer (even if not prompted)

Repeat this procedure until there are no more critical updates.

DO NOT TRUST the “Windows is up to date” in center of dialog. until you see that TWICE IN A ROW!

INSTALL IMPORTANT UPDATES
Use the “critical update” procedure until all important updates are installed.

INSTALL OPTIONAL UPDATES
Use the “critical update” procedure until all optional updates are installed.

Under Optional updates you will be presented with a list of about 34 language updates.
You can hide those updates so that aren't continually notified of those updates. When you click on 34 optional updates are available, then you
a) highlight all of the language updates,
b) right-click anywhere in the highlighted list.
c) click on Hide Updates,
d) OK button.


UPDATE GOLDEN RULES
Install ALL, yes, ALL updates.
This is Win 7 and not Vista or XP (eXPired).

UPDATE IS HUNG –TAKING FOREVER
Hung is very doubtful unless you interrupted updates.

CTRL + SHIFT + ESC key combo will pop-up the Task Manager.
Lo and behold, Windows Update is still running!

You hold down the CTRL and SHIFT keys.
While holding them down, tap the ESC key once.

Now don't go thinking that you are smarter than Microsoft. This is not eXPired.

Install each and every update using the procedure given.
